The Naval Forces Command organizes open doors at the Principal Naval Base Mers El Kébir/2ndMR
In implementation of the communication plan of the People’s National Army 2025-2026, and within the framework of commemorating the fifty-eighth (58th) anniversary of regaining sovereignty on the Principal Naval Base Mers El Kébir February 2nd,1968, the Naval Forces Command organized open doors in February 2nd and 3rd, 2026 at the Principal Naval Base Mers El Kébir Chahid “BOUSSIF Belhadji” West Maritime Façade/2ndMR. Mr. The Major-General Deputy Commander of the second Military Region supervised the opening ceremony with the presence of civil and military local authorities and national media representatives.
This communication initiative aims to open communication bridges between the Naval Forces and citizens throughout allowing them to know the nature of operational and humanitarian missions carried out in the field of protecting the national sovereignty and securing the naval field throughout field visits to naval units docked at the naval base, and defining their technical competences and modern technologies and adopted types of action and intervention in addition to giving complete explanations on the course of training and integration opportunities within ranks of the Naval Forces in order to attract young competences.
This national event includes, in addition to visiting floating units, a show highlighting the most modern equipment and naval means and documentary fairs highlighting the Naval Forces’ history and achievements as well as open meetings gathering visitors with high staff of the Naval Forces to answer their questions.
The Naval Forces Command invites citizens to attend and take part in these festivities that fall within the framework of consolidating the « Army-Nation » link and instilling awareness of the role of the Naval Forces in the protecting the country and preserving its strategic naval interests.
