Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of PNA installs the new Commander of the National Gendarmerie.
On behalf of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, and in accordance with the Presidential Decree of 30th July 2020, the Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, chaired, this Tuesday, 04th August 2020, the ceremony of handover of power and the installation of the General Noureddine GOUASSEMIA as the new Commander of the National Gendarmerie in succession to the Major General Abderrahmane ARRAR.
After the welcoming ceremony, the Lieutenant General observed a moment’s silence in memory of the Chahid "Larbi Ben M'hidi", whose name is borne by the National Gendarmerie Command headquarters. For the occasion, he laid a wreath in front of his commemorative stele and recited the Fatiha in his memory and that of our valiant Chouhada.
The ceremony began with a review of the squares of the staff of the National Gendarmerie, aligned at the level of the place of arms, before the official installation of the new Commander of the National Gendarmerie.
Then, the Lieutenant General, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, supervised the ceremony of handing over the national emblem.
After the signing of the transfer of power minutes, the Lieutenant General held a meeting with the Command and the executives of the National Gendarmerie, where he addressed, on the occasion, an orientation speech, broadcasted via videoconference to all Regional Commands and units of the National Gendarmerie. As such, he recalled the interest that the National Gendarmerie Corps benefited from the High Command, as one of the main components of the People's National Army.
The Lieutenant General urged the executives of the National Gendarmerie to accomplish their missions as best as possible and to constantly strive to consolidate links with the people, throughout the national territory.
