Lieutenant General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, presides over the closing ceremony of the International Military Dog-training Competition "True Friend" organized within the framework of the International Military Games 2021

      Lieutenant General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army presided, this Monday, August 30th, 2021, at the Regrouping and Preparation centre of the Military Sports Teams "Chahid Messaoud BOUDJRIOU" in Ben Aknoun- 1st Military Region, over the closing ceremony of the International Military dog-training Competition "True Friend" for the year 2021, hosted from August 22nd to 30th, 2021, for the first time, by Algeria, within the framework of the International Military Games organised each year by the Russian Federation.

      The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister, Minister of Finances, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Minister of Communication, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Minister of Youth and Sports, together with Colonel General Alexander FOMIN, Deputy Minister of Defence for the Russian Federation, the heads of the military sports delegations of the participating countries, the two ambassadors of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Vietnam, as well as the 1st Military Region’s Commander and General Officers of the Ministry of National Defence and the General Staff of the People's National Army.

  

      At the beginning, the Lieutenant General, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and the Russian Deputy Minister of Defence proceeded to the planting of the friendship tree highlighting the role of sport in the promotion and development of military cooperation between the armies. Afterwards, cups and medals were awarded to the winners in the various individual and collective dog-training specialities that took place during this international competition.

  

  

  

      In his speech for the occasion, the Lieutenant General welcomed Colonel General Alexander FOMIN, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, and thanked him sincerely for his presence at the closing ceremony of this international military sports competition, reiterating his conviction that the positive results obtained will constitute a stone that will be added to the edifice of military cooperation in all fields:

  

      "First of all, I would like to welcome Colonel General Alexander FOMIN, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, and to thank him for attending with us the closing ceremony of the International Military Dog Training Competition "True Friend", organised for the first time in Algiers, and this, in the framework of the International Military Games for the year 2021. This distinguished presence reflects the strategic character of the Algerian-Russian military cooperation relations. I would also like to express my sincere thanks to the ambassadors and members of the military sports teams present with us today, who have honoured our invitation to this important international military sports event. I hope that your stay with us has been pleasant and fruitful, and that it has allowed you to discover Algeria up close, with all its beautiful landscapes and centuries-old historical and cultural heritage.

      In this context, we hope that our efforts for the success of this competition were up to the ambitions and expectations of the sports delegations that participated in this international event, which took place under good organisational conditions. We are convinced that the positive results of this competition will constitute a stone that will be added to the edifice of our military cooperation in all fields and at all levels, and this, in accordance with our common approach which consists in making more efforts in order to raise our relations to the expected level of excellence".

      He congratulated the winners and urged them to persevere on this path in order to achieve more success and live up to the expectations of their armies. He also conveyed a message of friendship and respect, on behalf of all the personnel of the People's National Army, to their counterparts in friendly armies, before announcing the official closing of this international sports event:

      "I also take this opportunity to congratulate you for winning medals and cups in the various dog sports specialities, in both individual and team events. These remarkable results show your great individual and collective skills, your immense sporting talents, your good preparation and the perfect synergy of efforts made by the supervisors, among the technical staff and the trainers, who contributed efficiently to the achievement of this exploit and to your blossoming in this sport, by arming themselves, throughout the competition, with exemplary discipline and fair sporting competition imbued with fair play. I urge you to persevere on this path, to achieve more success and to live up to the expectations of your armies.

      In conclusion, I send you a message of friendship and respect, on behalf of all the personnel of the People's National Army, to their counterparts in your friendly armies, wishing to see these sports meetings renewed in the years to come.

      Finally, I wish you a safe return to your countries and I officially announce the closing of the International Military Dog-training Competition "True Friend", for the year 2021".

      At the end, the closing ceremony was punctuated by a parade of the participating military sports teams and various displays by the Republican Guard troops.

  

      It should be noted that this international military sports competition, hosted by Algeria, saw the participation of a number of athletes of both sexes representing five countries, namely Algeria, Russia, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Belarus, who competed in four dog-training disciplines: biathlon (running and rifle shooting), Kalashnikov machine pistol shooting exercise, obstacle course and a protection and security exercise.
