2nd day of the visit of Lieutenant General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, to the 4th Military Region - Ouargla
Within the framework of the tactical exercises’ completion carried out in the various Military Regions, Lieutenant General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, supervised this morning at the South-East Operational Sector Djanet, the execution of a tactical exercise with live ammunition, “NASR-2021”, as part of the closing of the year 2020-2021 of combat readiness.
At the beginning, the Lieutenant General followed a presentation by Major General Omar TELEMÇANI, Commander of the 4th Military Region, including the purpose and general idea behind the exercise, while the Major General, Commander of the South-East Operational Sector Djanet, presented the stages of the exercise and the expected objectives behind its execution.
At the firing range of the Operational Sector, the Lieutenant General followed closely the combat actions carried out by the land, air and air defence units engaged. These actions were characterised by a high level of professionalism during all phases and with a high tactical and operational degree, confirming once again the assiduity in the accomplishment of the actions both in terms of planning and execution, and reflecting the competence of the executives in setting up and conducting the various combat actions, as well as the know-how and the capacity of the personnel to master the use of the different weapon systems and equipment provided, that contributed to the realisation of the objectives previously set.
This tactical exercise, carried out with live ammunition, aimed to test the combat readiness of the Sector's units, as well as to train unit commanders and staff in the conduct of such operations, and to develop their knowledge of planning, preparation, organisation and execution, while putting them in a real-war conditions. The exercise also saw the rapid execution of an airlift exercise using helicopters from a Special Forces detachment.
At the end of the exercise, the Lieutenant General met with the personnel of the units that carried out the exercise, congratulating them for the efforts made during the preparation and execution of this tactical exercise with live ammunition, that was also sanctioned by very satisfactory results, concretized by the precision of the shots of the diverse weapons, recalling that the development of combat experience, the anchoring of knowledge and capacities are operational objectives that can only be achieved through work in the field, that is to say, the successful execution of the exercises. Indeed, the theoretical knowledge, practical and specialised skills taught in schools are insufficient if they have not been put to good use in the field.
At the end, the Lieutenant General proceeded to the inspection of the units of the South-East Operational Sector Djanet as well as the other formations that took part in this exercise.
