Visit of the Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army to the 2nd Military Region
Within the framework of the periodic inspection visits to the various Military Regions, the Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, carries out on 19 May 2021, a working and inspection visit in the 2nd Military Region in Oran.
After the welcoming ceremony, the Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, accompanied by the Major General Djamel HADJ-LAAROUSSI, Commander of the 2nd Military Region, observed a minute’s silence in the memory of the late Moudjahid BOUDJENANE Ahmed alais Si Abbes, at the entrance to the Region headquarters that bears his name, and laid a wreath in front of his commemorative stele, before reciting the Fatiha on his soul and that of the valiant Chouhada.
At the Command headquarters of the Region, the Lieutenant General held an orientation meeting with the executives and the staff of the Region and addressed a speech during which he invited them to remember the tragic events of 08th May 1945, which was a crucial stage which impacted the course of events.
"In this context precisely, I would like us to remember an eternal national event, namely the massacres of 8th May 1945, of which we celebrated this year the 76th anniversary, an event that the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, instituted, last year, the National Day of Remembrance.
It is obvious that this momentous day was a crucial step in the impact it had on the course of events. Indeed, the first spark of the glorious liberation revolution was one of the results of this terrible colonial genocide, which revealed the visceral hatred that colonialist France had for the Algerian people and which made more than 45,000 martyrs. "
The Lieutenant General indicated that it is up to all the children of Algeria to show extreme vigilance and a high sense of patriotism, and to ensure the preservation of territorial, popular and national unity, to which we must pay attention, in particular in the light of the consequences imposed by current events at the regional and international levels:
"Our country is now going through a crucial phase of its contemporary history, induced by the events recorded at the regional and international levels, which requires from the free children of Algeria, devoted and faithful to the federating national state, established by the glorious liberation revolution and whose benchmarks were drawn by the proclamation of 1st November a flawless watchfulness, a higher sense of patriotism and to ensure the preservation of national, territorial and popular unity, to which we must all attach ourselves, by esteeming it, in our soul and conscience, at its true value, and by defending it fiercely
I seize this opportunity to warn adventurers, whatever their persuasions or ideological currents, against any attempt to undermine national unity. We remind them that within People's National Army, we will face, with firmness and vigour, anyone who thinks of endangering the constants of the Nation and we will work, relentlessly, to lay bare their abject designs before national and international public opinion, because we are firmly convinced that national unity is the beacon which lights our way and which strengthens our will in crises and adversity, and which is also the guarantor of the building of a new Algeria, strong, united, developed, faithful to the values and noble ideals of our valiant ancestors, and able to assert its presence in a world, full of challenges and ruthless towards the weakest ”.
At the end of the meeting, the Lieutenant General listened to the interventions of the executives and the staff of the Region who showed their unchanging commitment to meet all the challenges for the defence of the security and stability of the country, as well as for the safeguard of national sovereignty.
