Within the framework of the implementation of military cooperation activities with Tunisia for 2025, the Commander of the Naval Forces, Major General Mahfoud Ben Meddah, supervised the inspection ceremony of the missile launcher corvette “Raïs Hassan Barbier” on 11th December 2025, at the Naval Base in Algiers, First Military Region, further to the corvette's participation in the joint naval exercise with the Tunisian Navy, “El Mourjan 2025,” which took place from 2nd to 8th December 2025, in the maritime zone north of Tunisia.

The exercise involved joint tactical manoeuvres, including maritime interdiction operations, search and rescue exercises, and training in fighting illegal activities at sea. This exercise aimed to strengthen bilateral coordination, raise the level of operational readiness, and assess the degree of integration and coordination between the Algerian and Tunisian Naval Forces. The Algerian Naval Forces participated in the exercise, deploying the missile-launched vessel “Raïs Hassan Barbier” with a detachment of marine commandos from the Special Actions Regiment.
This activity reaffirms the strength of bilateral cooperation with regional partners, thus contributing to the reinforcement of maritime security and safety for both countries..
