Within the framework of the fight against organized crime and within the dynamic of the sustained operations to thwart drug trafficking attempts in our country, units of the National Gendarmerie, through two separate operations conducted yesterday, Monday, 2nd February 2026, in Algiers, 1st Military Region, successfully dismantled two transnational criminal networks specializing in illegal trafficking of psychotropic substances.


      These two operations allowed the interruption of the distribution of (4,292,000) million psychotropic pills, the arrest of twenty (20) drug traffickers, and the seizure of ten (10) passenger vehicles, significant sums of money, and other items used in this criminal activity.


      These two operations add to the numerous other operations that have thwarted the introduction and distribution of these toxic substances in our country, and demonstrate the professionalism, vigilance, and constant readiness of People's National Army units, with their various components, to combat all forms of organized crime.

      The challenge lies in mobilizing the various segments of society to fight this dangerous scourge and preserve the high national potential represented by our youth.
