Second day of the official visit of General Said CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, to the Sultanate of Oman
On the second day of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, General Said CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, was received on 1st June 2026, by His Highness Mr. Shihab bin Tariq bin Taimour Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs.
On this occasion, the General expressed his profound gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him by His Highness, while conveying the greetings of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defence, who wished the Sultanate of Oman, its government and people, continued success, prosperity, and progress in a climate of security and stability.
This meeting provided an opportunity for the General to discuss with His Highness the privileged bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in a forward-looking perspective, taking into account the supreme interests of the two brotherly peoples and the historical and fraternal ties that bind them.
The General was also received at Al-Murtafa’a Camp by Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khemis bin Abdullah Al-Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan of Oman’s Armed Forces.
Following the military honours rendered to him, the General and Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khemis bin Abdullah Al-Raissi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Sultan of Oman, held a fraternal meeting during which the two sides discussed the state of bilateral military cooperation and ways to develop it in line with the excellent relations between Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman and the aspirations of the leaders of the two brotherly countries.
On this occasion, the General delivered a speech in which he expressed his appreciation for the invitation extended to him to visit the Sultanate of Oman, before commending the quality of Algerian-Omani relations, particularly in recent years:
“The historical relations uniting Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman have always been characterized by sincere fraternity, a shared heritage and destiny, as well as a convergence of views on matters of common interest. These relations have recently experienced remarkable growth and sustained momentum, driven by the sincere commitment of the leaders of both countries. This commitment has materialized in the exchange of high-level visits and the establishment of the framework for a promising strategic partnership.
Our presence here today is also the best proof of the particular importance we, in Algeria, attach to strengthening partnership and cooperation with the Omani Armed Forces, especially regarding the exchange of expertise and experience in the fields of defence and security”.
For his part, the Chief of Staff of the Sultan of Oman's Armed Forces commended the level of bilateral military cooperation between the two brotherly countries, before expressing his appreciation to the General for accepting this invitation.
Following the meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts.
That same afternoon, the General visited the National Defence College, where he was received by the College Commandant.
After the welcoming ceremony, a brief presentation on the missions of the college and its departments was given to the General, who then inquired about the educational structures available at this college and the quality of the training provided by this prestigious training structure of the Sultanate of Oman, before the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts.
