The Branch School of Engineers was created in 1965, in Hussein Dey-Algiers under the name "Branch School of Infrastructure" for the training of military engineering personnel.

In 1969 the School is charged to train the personnel of reserve (all categories).

January 01, 1976: transfer of the School to Bejaia to ensure the specialised training in the arm of engineers.

November 23, 1990: Fastening of the School to the Land Forces Command changing by the way its denomination into "Branch School of Engineers".

In 1995: transfer of the School of the town of Bejaia towards the commune of Boukhlifa, located at 06 km towards the east of the town of Bejaia.

The town of Bejaia (Ex Bougie) was the cradle of several civilisations through the ages. Thus it was used as camp by Phoenicians and Romans legions and capital for "Hammadites". Bejaia is located at 290 km in the East of the Algiers capital.

Provide the specialised training of arm to the personnel officers and non commissioned officers of career, contractual and of the contingent;

Follow-up elements trained in the EAG exercising within the operational units;

Elaboration of the evaluation studies in the fields of use, development and the modernisation of arms;

Participation in the evaluation of the materials, means and equipments;

Study of the tactical regulations of the arm and the preparation of basic documentation;

Study of the technical systems and maintenance of the armament and the materials of the arm;

Improvement of the quality of the training progressively with the evolution of technology;

Enrichment and management of the basic documentation of the arm.

The school has a range of infrastructure and teaching means (prototype, models, simulators, tables... etc.) Which are used as teaching support and illustration for the assimilation of the theoretical and practical courses, composed of :

• Rooms of course and rooms of specialised course ;
• Room of conferences;
• Rooms of the computer-assisted learning;
• Laboratory of the soil mechanics;
• Laboratory of the powders and explosives;
• Language laboratory;
• Room of simulator of shooting by the light weapons;
• Polygon of training of engineers.

A six months training course intended for the officers coming from the units of engineers to improve their tactical and technical training and the art of command, thus to assume more complex missions.

This training course of one year school duration of specialisation is intended to the officers coming from AMIA/Cherchelll to be useful in the units of engineers and to become ready to order a section of engineers and to achieve the various missions of support engineers.

A six month training course intended for the officer cadets of the contingent to become ready to order a section of the engineers.

This training course of one school year duration intended for the non commissioned officers of rank warrant officer second class to consolidate their experience to become ready to take up successfully the duty of assistant of the head of section of the engineers, and even to order the section.

A six month training course intended for non commissioned officers of career of rank staff sergeant, to update their knowledge and to prepare them to order a group of engineers and to be ready to take up successfully the duty of assistant of the head of section of engineers.

This one school year duration training course aims to prepare the contractual cadets non commissioned officers having finished successfully their fundamental training in ESOA-Khanchela, for the command of a group of engineers and to achieve the various missions of support engineers.

A six month training course intended for the cadets non commissioned officers of the contingent to become ready to order a group of engineers.

The cycle of training of bomb disposal experts comprises four (04) levels :

The training of bomb disposal experts is intended to the non commissioned officers and to contractual troupes rank men. It is spread out over six (06) weeks period and allows this personnel to be initiated with the techniques of detection and destruction of the explosive regular and impromptu machines on the site of their discovery.

The training of bomb disposal experts of the 1st degree is intended to Officers and non commissioned of career and contractual. It is spread out over six (06) months period and allows to this personnel to achieve all missions relating to detection, the identification and the neutralisation of the regular and impromptu explosive machines.

The training of bomb disposal expert of the 2nd degree is intended to the officers and non commissioned officers of career and contractual titular of the diploma for the occupation of bomb disposal expert of 1st degree and justifying one year experience at least. It is spread out over eight (08) weeks period and allows to this personnel to carry out missions of neutralisation at the important zones. Their qualification enables them to act within the framework of special missions.

The training of instructor bomb disposal expert is intended to the officers and non commissioned officers of career titular of the diploma for the occupation of bomb disposal expert of the 2nd degree and justifying of two (02) years experience. It is spread out over twenty one (21) days period and articulates primarily on pedagogy and the methods of teaching.
