COMMANDO AND PARACHUTE INITIATION TRAINING SCHOOL / BOUGHAR
« Chahid Derbal M'barek » 1st MR

The history of Commando and Parachute Initiation Training School of Boughar goes back to the Roman era, when this quartering (the mother unit of the Centre) was created like a roman fortress (Castellum Mauritanium). Thereafter, the Emir Abdelkader used it as a barracks with his name "the barracks of the Emir", until it was burned in 1841.

After the arrival of the colonial army in the region, the French forces used the site like a military barracks considering its strategic location and built a hospital there. Later, when the city falls under the enemy, it makes of it a colony sheltering the French colonists.
After independence, the School takes the name of Instruction Centre of Boughar which then enjoys an African notoriety thanks to its contribution to ensure the instruction of African soldiers.
November 10th, 1993, the School was renamed "Instruction Centre of the Combat Arms" to the "Instruction Centre of Commandos". Since that date, it's considered among the establishments of instruction of the Land Forces.
