The National NCO Training School of Khenchela, relating to the People's National Army is one of the NCO training poles. It receives NCO pupils from the civil life to provide them with a core curriculum for the Land Forces, Republican Guard and different central directions and services of the Ministry of National Defence.

After independence, several training institutions were created especially the NCO Training National School of Blida, founded in 1965. The latter changed its mission and name in 1975 to become the Training School of Reserve Officers in charge of providing special training for Regular Officers holding university diplomas as well as regular NCO training.

On 29 June 1993 the Regular NCO School was created according to ministerial decree, which opened its doors for the 1st class to get Professional Military Certificate 2nd Degree.

In 1995 ESOA was merged with the Regular NCO School. It is situated 1 km to the south-east exit of the city of Khenchela.
