General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of PNA presides over the opening of the International Military Competition "Airborne Section" organized within the framework of the International Military Games-2022
The General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army presided, this Monday morning 15th August 2022, at the Regional Complex of Military Sports in the First Military Region, the opening ceremony of the International Military Competition "Airborne Section-2022" hosted by Algeria as part of the International Military Games organized each year in the Russian Federation.
The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister Aïmene BENABDERAHMANE, the Ministers of Communication, Culture and Arts, alongside General Officers of the Ministry of National Defence and of the General Staff of People's National Army, ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic corps of participating countries and chiefs of military sports delegations who took part in this Competition.
This international military sports competition saw the participation of a large number of athletes representing sixteen (16) countries including Algeria, to compete in several disciplines such as the Armoured Combat Vehicle Race, precision parachute jumping, orienteering, martial arts competitions, in addition to other individual and collective sports competitions.
The opening ceremony began with a speech delivered by the Major General, Commander of the Land Forces before the General addressed the opening allocution, through which he welcomed the participating sports delegations, stressing that the organization of this event crowns the common agreement between Algeria and the Russian Federation, after the great success of the International Military Dog-training Competition "Faithful Friend" in 2021:
“The organization of this military sporting event comes to crown the common agreement between Algeria and the Russian Federation, concluded last year after the great success of the International Military Dog-training Competition " Faithful Friend " in 2021, which was distinguished by a perfect organization on all levels, a success that motivated the supervisors of this competition to reiterate their confidence in our country to organize the Airborne Section Competition.
As such, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Russian military authorities who offered our country the opportunity to organize this important sporting event, which will see the participation of the best military sports athletes from the armies of the participating countries. These athletes who will compete for two weeks in various military sports disciplines, including armoured fighting vehicle racing, precision parachute jumping, orienteering, martial arts competitions, in addition to other individual and collective sports competitions.”
The General recalled that this sporting event conceals innumerable noble human virtues, the most illustrious being the strengthening of the spirit of fair play among military athletes in a climate of mutual aid and solidarity, which contributes, undoubtedly, to the anchoring of the values of peace, serenity and tolerance:
“We are proud, within People's National Army, to organize this important international military sporting event involving friendly countries to whom we feel respect and esteem, convinced that sport plays a noble role in links strengthening, friendship and cooperation between the States, on one hand, in another hand, it contribute in the widening of experiences exchanging horizons between the armies in the fields of common interest.
Indeed, this Competition harbours innumerable noble human virtues, the most illustrious being the strengthening of fair play spirit among military athletes in a climate of mutual aid and solidarity, which undoubtedly contributes to the anchoring the values of peace, serenity and tolerance, where the best in terms of preparation, training and willpower will win. In the end, the big winners are the noble human values that elevate us to the highest ranks.”
At the end, the General expressed his wishes of success to all the participants, wishing them to win the maximum number of medals, and kicked off the International Military Competition "Section Airborne-2022":
“I would like to express to all the participants in this great sporting event, my wishes for full success, wishing them to win the maximum number of medals and to obtain honorary results, up to the expectations of the army’s forces of our respective countries, who always aspire to the best.
Finally, I announce the official opening of the International Military Competition "Airborne Section-2022", and may the best win!”
Then, the audience followed the opening ceremony, marked by individual and collective sports exhibitions followed by beautiful musical performances which greatly aroused the satisfaction and admiration of the present public.
