Algeria has bid farewell on 28th March 2026, to one of its most loyal sons, former President Mujahid Liamine Zeroual who passed away at the age of 85, having devoted his entire life to the service of his country. His funeral was marked by solemnity and emotion, attended by Mr President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, senior state officials, comrades from the struggle, and a large crowd of citizens who came from all corners of the country to pay their tribute to this virtuous and devoted patriot. From a young age, Liamine Zeroual was imbued with the values of patriotism, sacrifice, and selflessness. At sixteen, he joined the National Liberation Army as a Mujahid, fighting the abhorrent occupier and striving for Algeria’s freedom from the shackles of oppression. After regaining national sovereignty, he continued his struggle as an officer in the ranks of People's National Army, where he fulfilled his duty completely, rising through the ranks with distinction.
