General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of PNA, presides the closing ceremony of the International Military Competition “Airborne Section-2022”
General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People’s National Army, presided this Saturday, 27th August 2022, at the Regional Complex of Military Sports in the 1st Military Region, the closing ceremony of the International Military Competition "“Airborne Section-2022” which took place from 15th to 27th August 2022 in Algeria, as part of the International Military Games organized each year in the Russian Federation.
Members of the Government, representatives of the military sports delegations of the participating countries, ambassadors of these countries, as well as the Commander of Land Forces, the Commander of the 1st Military Region and General Officers of the Ministry of National Defence and the General Staff of People’s National Army were present.
During his speech for the occasion, the General stressed that the organization of the International Military Competition “Airborne Section-2022”, by Algeria is a tangible proof of its unchanging commitment and firm determination to support any action aimed at the promotion of military sports, and that the sharing of experiences through exchanges between armies is one of the factors in the success of cooperation:
“The organization of the International Military Competition “Airborne Section-2022” by Algeria, under the high patronage of President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, is a tangible proof of its unwavering commitment and firm determination to support any action aimed at promoting military sports at the international level, and reflects the conviction of People’s National Army in the need to encourage communication and solidarity between armies in the service of development and peace in the world.
Within People’s National Army, we are convinced that physical education; besides being one of the imperatives of physical activity, healthy mind and mental balance of military personnel; is one of the foundations of effective combat readiness and operational readiness. It also serves as a showcase for People’s National Army, facing the world, in the field of sports competitions in the different disciplines, at the continental and international levels.
There is no doubt that the sharing of experiences through exchanges between armies, particularly in the field of military sports, is one of the factors for successful cooperation and fruitful and constructive communication.
Our hope is so grand to see this international military sports Competition open up promising horizons to strengthen our military relations, and to see in military sports a new source, which provides for cooperation between friendly armies, all factors of motivation and success.”
The General expressed his wish that the organization of this international competition in Algeria will have been up to the expectations of the sports delegations of the participating countries. He also conveyed the congratulations of President of the Republic to the winners, making them bearers of a message of friendship and respect, from all the personnel of People’s National Army, to their counterparts within friendly armies, before announcing the official closing of this international sporting event:
“We also hope that we have made the necessary efforts for the success of this competition, efforts that would be up to the ambitions and expectations of the sports delegations of the participating countries, and that our hosts will keep a positive image of Algeria and the People’s National Army, on their return to their respective countries, that will motivate them to revisit our country in the future, on other occasions.
As I would like to transmit to you, individually and by teams, you who have won, medals and cups in the various disciplines, the warmest congratulations from the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, who follows the activities of this important sporting event on a daily basis. In my turn, I present my congratulations to all the winners on the remarkable results achieved, urging you to persevere on this path, in order to achieve more performance and success, and to live up to the expectations of your armies and your countries.
To conclude, I ask you, our honourable guests, to carry a message of friendship and respect, from all the personnel of People’s National Army, to their counterparts in their friendly armies, wishing to see these sporting events repeated in the years to come.
Finally, I wish you a good return to your countries and I officially announce the closing of the International Military Competition “Airborne Section-2022”. ”
Before that, the ceremony saw the presentation of medals and cups to the winners where our national military selection was able to take the first place in teams in all the disciplines contested.
It should be noted that this international military sports competition hosted by Algeria, saw the participation of a large number of athletes, of both genders, representing sixteen (16) countries including Algeria, who have competed in many sporting disciplines, such as armoured fighting vehicle racing, precision parachute jumping, orienteering, martial arts competitions, in addition to other individual and group sports competitions.
