President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence presides over a ceremony in honour of the retirees of People's National Army, from the ranks of the National Liberation Army, of the families of the Chouhada of National duty, disabled and the gravely injured of PNA within the fight against terrorism
Within the framework of the festivities commemorating the 60th anniversary of National Independence and following the institution by Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence of the date of 04th August as a National Day of People's National Army, coinciding with the date of the conversion of the National Liberation Army into People's National Army, the President of the Republic presided, this Thursday, 04th August 2022 at the Army’s National Circle in Beni Messous/1st MR, a ceremony in honour of the retirees of People's National Army, from the ranks of the National Liberation Army, the families of the Chouhada of national duty, the disabled and the gravely injured of People’s National Army within the fight against terrorism.
The President of the Republic was welcomed by the General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, where a military formation honoured him.
This ceremony was attended by the President of the Nation’s Council, the President of People's National Assembly, the President of the Constitutional Court, the Prime Minister, a number of counsellors to the President of the Republic, and members of the Government, in addition to the General, Commander of the Republican Guard, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, Commanders of Forces, the Commander of the National Gendarmerie, Chiefs of Departments, Directors and Chiefs of Central Services under the Ministry of National Defence and of People's National Army General Staff, as well as senior State officials, national personalities and the Moudjahidine alongside the guests to be honoured among the retirees of People's National Army from the ranks of the National Liberation Army, the families of the Chouhada of the National Duty and the disabled and the gravely injured ones of People's National Army within the fight against terrorism.
The President of the Republic honoured the retirees of People's National Army from the ranks of the National Liberation Army, the families of the Chouhada of the National Duty and the disabled and the gravely injured of People's National Army within the fight against terrorism by awarding them certificates of honour and recognition.
On this occasion, the General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army delivered a speech through which he underlined that the establishment by the President of the Republic of the reconversion date of the National Liberation Army into People's National Army, on 04th August of each year, as People's National Army National Day is inspired by the values of abnegation and sacrifices for the homeland, and aspires to rooting of their noble principles in the minds of successive generations of the Algerian people:
“Our national memory was and will remain the lantern that illuminates the present and the future of our Nation, with all that it carries in high deeds, in glories and in sacrifices in the name of freedom, dignity and sovereignty.
Inspired by this memory rich in noble values and exceptional heroic deeds, accomplished with the blood of noble free and loyal men and women, deeply convinced of the sacredness of the Nation, having snatched its sovereignty and its dignity from the claws of the barbarian colonizer, who practiced all methods of cruel repression and subjected all atrocities and abuses to an unarmed people, stripping them of their wealth and despoiling their abilities, without succeeding in making them relent. A people who stood up unshakable, attached to their values and their origins despite all the circumstances.
Inspired by this memory, we celebrate with pride and dignity, the first commemoration of the National Day of the People's National Army, instituted by the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, led by the authentic and sincere interest that he has for the National Memory, and by his immense esteem for the efforts and the sacrifices made by the devoted children of the homeland, so that Algeria remains forever prosperous.”
The General hailed, in his address, the extreme interest that the President of the Republic has in the National Memory, as a source of strength and a guarantee for the present and the future, but also a witness of gratitude for the sacrifices of our valiant heroes, who chose to sacrifice what they held most dear so that we could live free and sovereign on our lands. A new opportunity to renew their oath and preserve their legacy so that Algeria will forever enjoy its unity, security and prosperity:
“Your decision to institute this Day as one of the most illustrious national dates will be engraved in history and remembered by successive generations, as a witness of recognition and gratitude for the colossal efforts and the great sacrifices made by People's National Army children, worthy heiress of the National Liberation Army during the many battles it has fought since independence. Beginning with the battle for the construction, the edification and the deliverance of the remnants of the abject colonialism, while facing all attempts to attack our borders and our territorial unity, up to the fight against the barbaric terrorism, and its total eradication with unequalled courage and bravery.
These efforts made throughout the course of independent Algeria, and which are the pride of the whole Nation, call us today, on the occasion of this first commemoration of People's National Army National Day, to honour a number of men among the most faithful children of Algeria. A tribute paid to all those who have made an act of self-sacrifice for the homeland and have served it with dignity and loyalty.”
At the end of the ceremony, the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, took a souvenir photo with the honoured guests.
It should be noted that on the occasion of People's National Army National Day, ceremonies were organized at the level of the Military Regions, in honour of the retirees of People's National Army, from the ranks of the National Liberation Army, the families of the Chouhada of the National duty, the disabled and gravely injured of People's National Army in the context of the fight against terrorism, where the Commanders of the Military Regions presented them certificates of honour and recognition awarded by the President of the Republic.
