The General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army presides over the opening of the historic conference works entitled: "The reconversion of the National Liberation Army into the People's National Army"
On the occasion of the People's National Army National Day corresponding to 04th August, instituted by Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, and in order to identify the historical premises of People's National Army creation, of which the National Liberation Army constitutes the solid core, and to throw light on its path in the defence of the national sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the country, the Directorate of Information and Communication under People's National Army General Staff organized, today 04th August 2022 at the Army’s National Circle in Béni Messous a historic conference entitled: "the reconversion of National Liberation Army into the People's National Army”.
The General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army presided over the opening of the conference works, which was attended by the President of the Nation’s Council, the President of the People's National Assembly, the President of the Constitutional Court, members of the Government, counsellors to the President of the Republic, as well as the General, Commander of the Republican Guard, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, Commanders of the Forces and of the National Gendarmerie, the Commander of the 1st Military Region, the Chiefs of Departments, the Directors and chiefs of Central Services at the Ministry of National Defence and at People's National Army General Staff, Moudjahidine and national personalities.
At the beginning, the General addressed an opening speech in which he underlined that the organization of this conference bears several symbols, particularly at the present time when the enemies of Algeria are trying to deprive our people of its Armed Forces efforts and their contribution, alongside other institutions, in the construction of the independent and sovereign Algerian State, and in its development in various fields:
“We are gathered today at this conference in circumstances similar to those of other key dates in our prestigious history. Dates that always arouse a particular ingenuity based on sincere insight, devoted to the homeland and far from any subjectivity or narrow conjunctural considerations. An insight that strengthens national cohesion capable of bringing together and responding to the various threats and risks regardless of their nature, with the aim of completing the process of building a new Algeria, strong by its valiant people and its redoubtable army which undertakes, in accordance with its constitutional missions, to defend its territorial unity in all circumstances".
The General also underlined that the institution of 04th August of each year, as People's National Army National Day, reflects the particular interest and the unfailing and sincere support of the President of the Republic to the national memory, and embodies the noblest values of loyalty to our brave Chouhada and our valiant Moudjahidine, as well as its recognition and esteem for the great deeds accomplished by their successors within People's National Army in defending the security and stability of the homeland:
"As such, in full transition from the colonial period to the independence era, from the battle of liberation to that of construction, the National Liberation Army was reconverted into People's National Army, his worthy natural heiress, 4th August 1962. This day instituted by Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, as a National Day of People's National Army.
Thus, this national day is added to the many glorious historical days and celebrations of our country, which reflects the particular interest and the unfailing and sincere support of the President of the Republic for the national memory, being the source of our strength and our pride, the torch that lights our present and our future and the vector of development and prosperity of our country. This Day, an opportunity to rekindle the acts of bravery and the sacrifices of our valiant heroes who have chosen to sacrifice themselves body and soul so that we may live free and sovereign on our land, is also an appointment to renew our commitment to preserve their legacies by accomplishing our missions with dedication and by providing more efforts so that Algeria remains always and forever united, safe and prosperous".
The General stressed that this meeting is part of the sacrifices commemoration of Algeria’s eternal heroes, and reaffirms that the worthy and devoted children of Algeria are ready to make the greatest sacrifices for security and the stability of the homeland:
“To die as martyr for the homeland and to inculcate the noble values and principles of this act in the future generations minds, is the sacred duty for which we are all responsible.
Inspired by these values, we are gathered today to commemorate the sacrifices of the Algeria’s eternal heroes, and to reaffirm that the worthy and devoted children of Algeria among them the personnel and executives of People's National Army are ready to make the greatest sacrifices for the security and stability of the country, and to always contribute to its development and prosperity. The lantern of devotion to the homeland, abnegation and sacrifice, will forever light the paths of successive generations.
I also take this opportunity to express my ultimate gratitude and respect to our valiant Moudjahidine who triggered the Glorious November Revolution, and knew, with their fierce fight how to defeat the army of the French colonizer.
I therefore want to glorify and salute their achievements and their prowess which have enabled Algeria to wrest its independence and recover its sovereignty, wishing them health, happiness, well-being and a long life.
At the end, the General, Chief of Staff of People's National Army announced the official opening of this conference.
On this occasion, the Major General, Director of Information and Communication of PNA General Staff delivered a speech through which he recalled that People's National Army's commitment to the accomplishment of its constitutional missions and its support for its people is based on the spirit and values of the Glorious November Revolution:
" People's National Army, worthy heir to the National Liberation Army will always remain, as the High Command has affirmed more than once, at the service of Algeria and its people, the protector of its national sovereignty and the guarantor of its unity and cohesion, honouring the message of the Chouhada and fulfilling its constitutional missions”.
Afterwards, the work of this important event continued with three (03) valuable conferences, led by academicians specializing in history and Moudjahidine who experienced this reconversion. The themes of these conferences shed light on the evolution of the National Liberation Army from 1956 to 1962, and the origins and dimensions of the reconversion of the National Liberation Army into People's National Army. The light was also shed on the values and the principles on which this reconversion is based, in addition to the lessons to be learned from this important historical event.
The conference saw the intervention of Mr. Salah GOUDJIL, President of the Nation’s Council, who shared his testimony on several historical events of the Glorious Revolution of National Liberation.
The conferences recorded a resounding echo among the participants who in turn contributed to the enrichment and animation of the theme of this conference through debates reflecting the interest they attach to this theme and its great historical symbolism.
