Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, on a working and inspection visit to the 1st Military Region
Within the dynamics of his visits to the various Units of the People's National Army, Lieutenant General, Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army paid, this Tuesday, April 12th, 2022, a working and inspection visit to the 1st Military Region.
At the beginning of his visit and after the welcoming ceremony hosted by Major General Ali SIDANE, 1st Military Region’s Commander, the Lieutenant General observed a moment of silence in memory of the Chahid M'hamed BOUGUARA, Commander of the 1st historical Wilaya; knowing that the headquarters of the command proudly bore his name. The Lieutenant General then laid a wreath of flowers in front of his commemorative stele and recited the Fatiha on his soul and on those of all our valiant Chouhada.
Subsequently, the Lieutenant General held a meeting with the executives and personnel of the 1st Military Region, during which he delivered an orientation speech, followed by videoconferencing, through all the units under of the region. Through that speech, he underlined first the fact that each generation has its own fight including the People's National Army’s younger generation, which is to continue the march and safeguard the independence of the Nation and its sovereignty. A fight of conscience by excellence and one of the most perilous duties being intangible, it reflects their thoughts and values:
“I am deeply convinced that each generation has its own fights, if that of your fathers and grandfathers was to free our lands from the horrors of colonialism, and if that of your brothers and comrades was to face barbaric terrorism, then yours, you the younger generation of the People's National Army, and through you the youth of all Algeria, is to follow their path and safeguard the independence of the Nation and its sovereignty, which represents by excellence a fight of conscience.
Indeed, a most dangerous battle of conscience, insofar as it takes place at intangible levels, as a reflection of thoughts and values, and on the field of virtual and intellectual space, which used non-conventional weapons, and where the enemy, often invisible and holding the means to influence individual and collective conscience, is difficult to fight, particularly in the context of devastating globalization.
Today's battle is all the more difficult, as we live in a time where life is speeding up and concepts are confusing, while values and principles dissolved. Treason has thus become a point of view, the abandonment of a friend in difficult times an insight, and the alliance with the enemy against the brother an enlightened policy. What was reviled and rejected yesterday is now common and accepted, even more: applauded”.
The Lieutenant General, on the occasion, urged the young people to arm themselves with conscience, knowledge and dedication in their work and to close ranks in order to win this battle and honour the trust placed in them by their people and live up to the requirements to preserve the legacy of our Glorious Revolution’s Chouhada and their national duty:
"To this end, it is up to you, young people, to understand the stakes of this difficult battle, to comprehend its underside and to prepare yourself well for it, by arming yourselves with conscience, knowledge and assiduous work. While working, day and night, to bring together all available competences and close ranks, in order to win this dangerous battle, meet its challenges and face all its military and psychological forms.
It is only then that you can live up to the trust of the people, and to the level of the requirements needed to preserve the legacy of our Glorious Revolution’s Chouhada and that of the martyrs of national duty, fallen in the fields of honour, so that Algeria remains, under the leadership of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, prosperous and great among all nations".
By the end of this meeting, the Lieutenant General issued a set of orientations and recommendations which aim, as a whole, to increase the vigilance and secure the various public structures, thus allowing the citizens to fulfil their religious duty of fasting Ramadhan in an atmosphere of security and peace of mind.
