Within the framework of his visits to the various Military Regions, the Lieutenant General, Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army paid, this Tuesday, 26th April 2022, a working and inspection visit at the 8th Armoured Division Headquarters in the 2nd Military Region.
At the beginning and after the welcoming ceremony by the Major General Djamel HADJ LAAROUSSI, Commander of the 2nd Military Region, the Lieutenant General held a meeting with the executives and the staff of the 8th Armoured Division, the Lieutenant General gave an orientation speech, via videoconference followed by all the personnel of the units of the Region, where he assured that the national memory is the beating heart of the nation, the artery that feeds its present and its future, and the beacon that illuminates the different successive generations:
“As we prepare to celebrate an event most sacred and dear to our hearts, namely the 60th anniversary of the recovery of our national sovereignty from the despicable colonizer, it behoves us to always remember the heroes of the Algeria, who have been loyal to their country and have given their lives for it to be independent, after a great revolution, thanks to which the Algerian people have freed themselves from a long colonial night. It was an independence paid at a high price by huge number of our valiant martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for emancipation, freedom and the recovery of national sovereignty.
Moreover, we must always be aware that the national memory is the beating heart of the nation, the artery that feeds its present and its future, and the beacon that guides successive generations on the path to build a strong country, safe and prosperous, inspired by the values of our valiant ancestors, made up of loyalty, heroism and sacrifice".
The Lieutenant General underlined that safeguarding of our national memory is a sacred duty and an immense responsibility which belongs to all, recalling that the role of the citizen in the face of the various threats is no less important than that of the units of People's National Army in the field:
"Safeguarding our national memory, rich in eternal glories, and drawing on its noble values and immutable principles are a sacred duty and an immense responsibility that belongs to all of us, as the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, has often emphasized.
Our memory, which we will never abandon, is the inexhaustible source from which we draw to meet challenges, whatever their nature and origin, to strengthen the foundations of our strength and the unity of our nation.
As such, the role of the citizen who demonstrates conscience and patriotism, in the face of the various threats, is no less important than that which falls to our valiant units on the field. As a result, it is up to him today, much more than in the past, to show discernment and to contribute with his great patriotic sense to the preservation of the security and stability of our country, in order to thwart all attempts of nation enemies, this Nation for which millions of Chouhada have sacrificed themselves throughout its great history”.
At the end of the meeting, the Lieutenant General gave a set of orientations and instructions to the executives and personnel of the Region, which are, in short, part of the enhancement of the degree of vigilance and the securing of the various public infrastructures, in order to allow citizens to celebrate the Eid El-Fitr event in an atmosphere of peace and serenity.
