Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the PNA, on a working and inspection visit to the National Gendarmerie Command
Within the framework of the inspection visits to the various Forces and Military Regions, scheduled during this holy month of Ramadhan, the Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, carried out this Wednesday 20th April 2022, a working and inspection visit to the National Gendarmerie Command.
After the welcoming ceremony, Lieutenant General CHANEGRIHA Saïd, accompanied by Brigadier General Yahia Ali OULHADJ, Commander of National Gendarmerie, observed a moment of silence in memory of Al-Chahid “Larbi Ben M'hidi”, knowing that the headquarters of the Command bears his name, and laid a wreath of flowers in front of his commemorative stele, before reciting the Fatiha in his soul and that of our brave Chouhada.
Subsequently, the Lieutenant General held an orientation meeting with the executives and personnel of the Command, where he delivered a speech, followed by videoconferencing by all its units. On this occasion, he warned against media alarmism, that are triggered by certain negative social phenomena, as well as the sterile controversies resulted from them, which are likely responsible of the negative social differentiation seen lately:
“As I have stated on previous occasions, today’s battle is a battle of conscience by excellence and as such I would like to address an issue that has, in recent times, taken on alarming proportions. It is a question, in this case, of seeing the social networks and television landscape fall blindly into the logic of media uproar and alarmism on negative social phenomena or isolated acts, and of arousing, at this subject, sterile polemics and conjunctions, likely to irritate public opinion, provoke social discord and paradoxes.
This is a serious issue, that threatens social peace and public order and more, it is undoubtedly part of the extension of the conspiracies that are being plotted against our country, and which aim to sow discord, to obstruct development, to distract the people, even more, to divide them and cause their implosion, in order to make their infiltration, domestication and control easier”.
The Lieutenant General also stressed on the fact that what further complicates the situation is the use of technology to influence and manipulate public opinion, by disseminating everything that can divide and discord the people. That entails the association of all necessary efforts in order to destroy all germs of fitna:
“In addition, cyberspace experts affirm the existence of artificial intelligence applications and softwares, developed on the basis of very extensive studies, on the psychology and mentality of the targeted people. Their objective is to manipulate public opinion, by disseminating everything that can create division and discord between its components, on one hand, and by carrying out an intentional blackout on everything that is positive and everything that creates consensus and unites this society.
As a result, we believe that it is up to everyone, state officials, and members of the civil society, notables, opinion leaders, elites, imams even men of religion, to mobilize and raise awareness among young people regarding these phenomena, that must be treated with the utmost seriousness, and to work in a spirit of solidarity and mutual aid, to nip them in the bud, in order to avoid fitna to our country”.
The Lieutenant General urged the children of Algeria to show more awareness and vigilance and no alarmism, this can only be achieved by making reason prevail over passion:
“As such, I appeal to the children of our country to demonstrate greater awareness, vigilance and insight, and to refrain from any form of alarmism, by making reason prevail over passion, and by banishing irresponsible behaviour, which only serves the interests of the enemies of the people.
These conspirators are trying, in fact, to transform the main elements of unity and cohesion between the components of our people into sources of trouble and discord. Do we not say that those who lose their faith in their civic duty unavoidably lose their will to defend their entity and therefore renounce to any form of victory!”.
By the end of the meeting, the Lieutenant General gave a series of instructions and guidelines related, in short, to discipline, probity and the necessity to contribute to the security and well-being of the citizens of this country, especially during this holy month of Ramadhan.
