During the second day, the works of the international conference entitled: The geopolitics of extremism: origins, threats, challenges and mechanisms of struggle, organized under the high patronage of Mister Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, by the Institute of Higher Studies in National Security, on 03rd and 04th December 2022.
The conference whose opening ceremony was chaired yesterday by the General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of PNA at the Army’s National circle in Beni-Messous , saw the presence of members of the Government, senior state executives, Major Generals, as well as Algerian and foreign professors and experts. Works of the first day have continued with a speech delivered by the Brigadier General, Director General of the Higher Studies in National Security Institute , in which she emphasized the importance of the theme and the expected objectives.
For his part, and during his opening speech, Professor Amhand BARKOUK highlighted the geopolitics of extremism in the shadow of the current global changes.
For his part, Dr. Youssef BELMEHDI, Minister of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, stressed during his speech on the strategy adopted by Algeria in fight against extremism that the proliferation of this phenomenon through the majority of the countries around the world, requires a strategy to fight and set up mechanisms to deal with it.
Works of the conference were marked by a set of interventions presented by Algerian and foreign professors and experts, who highlighted the phenomenon of multidimensional extremism and its repercussions on security and stability in the world, particularly, in Arab countries and Africa. The works of the first day ended with two workshops on geopolitical changes and on the prevention and fight against extremism.
Works of this conference in its second day have continued with interventions by professors and experts focused on the various constitutional, legal, media and religious mechanisms to prevent extremism in all its forms. Similarly, emphasis was stressed on Algeria's experience against this phenomenon, as well as on the media approach and the role of Algerian diplomacy in this field. Works of the conference were closed by interventions contributing setting up a global vision on dimensions of extremism and the mechanisms to deal with it.
