General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army received, on the morning of this Sunday, 31st July 2022, at People's National Army headquarters, Mr. Josef BETI ASSOMO, Delegated Minister to the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon, in charge of Defence, who is carrying out an official visit to Algeria at the head of a large military delegation.
The ceremony began with the salute to the national flag, then a military salute to the Head of the host delegation addressed by the different forces formations of People's National Army.
The ceremony was attended by Commanders of the Forces and the National Gendarmerie, the Chiefs of Departments and the Central Directors of the Ministry of National Defence and the PNA General Staff, as well as the members of the Cameroonian military delegation.
After welcoming the host delegation, the General underlined that this visit will be the prelude to military cooperation which materializes the political will of the State Chiefs of the two countries, in order to work to lay the foundations for a diversified cooperation, which reflects the expected dynamics in the bilateral relations:
“Your visit today to our country is, without any doubt, the prelude to a beneficial military cooperation to our countries, making abstraction of security situation that our continent is experiencing.
It will also constitute a proof of our determination to materialize the political will of the State Chiefs of our two countries in order to work together to lay the foundations for diversified cooperation, based on frank exchange and mutual consultation to deal with matters of common interest. Moreover, this visit reflects the dynamic that we want to instil in our bilateral relations.”
The General also emphasized the need to include cooperation between the two armies in a military cooperation protocol to be ratified between our two parties:
“I am convinced that we are all driven by a real desire to work to establish and to develop lasting cooperation, based on trust, consideration of mutual interests and strengthening consultation between our two institutions.
On this occasion, I am pleased to announce our full availability to consult on security aspects and on the exchange of expertise in the field of military capacity building.
This cooperation between our two Armies would also benefit from being included in a military cooperation protocol, to be ratified between our two parties, whose visit today will allow staking out the prospects and will lead to the signing of an Agreement in the matter between our two armies.”
In turn, Mr. Josef BETI ASSOMO, Delegated Minister to the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon, in charge of Defence welcomed the will expressed by Algeria to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and coordination with the Republic of Cameroon alongside other African countries in order to preserve peace and stability throughout the African continent.
At the end, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before Mr. Josef BETI ASSOMO signed the guestbook of People's National Army General Staff.
