Within the framework of his visit to the 3rd Military Region, the Lieutenant General, Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army supervised, last night, the execution of a night tactical exercise with live ammunition entitled “Somoud 2022”, executed by units of the Southern Operational Sector of Tindouf with the participation of units from different Forces and Arms.
At the beginning, Lieutenant General followed a presentation given by the Commander of the Southern Operational Sector of Tindouf on the general idea and the stages of the exercise which took place in two parts: the first one, theoretical, in which the general staffs of the regional commands and the participating units took part, and the second one, dynamic, during which the participating units were engaged.

At the level of the fire and manoeuvres field of the Sector, the Lieutenant General, Chief of Staff of People's National Army closely followed the progress of the exercise carried out, at night, in conditions close to reality in order to achieve its objectives, in particular with regard to the training of commands and general staffs in the preparation and organization of night combat actions, to consolidate the experience of commands in terms of mastery of units, through the realization of cohesion, homogeneity and coordination between units and secondary units, and allow crews to acquire more skills in the mastery of weapons systems. The exercise also aims to test the readiness and ability to execute and conduct night combat actions and assess the ability to execute assigned missions under all circumstances.

The exercise, which allowed the highlighting of the capacities of the units involved in carrying out the assigned missions skilfully, constitutes another success which reflects the excellent mastery, by the crews, of the various modern weapons and equipment, and confirms the level of development and operational readiness achieved by the various components of the People's National Army battle corps.

At the end of the exercise, and after the inspection of the participating units, the Lieutenant General congratulated the personnel for the considerable efforts made during the year of combat preparation and throughout the preparations of this exercise. He also reiterated to them the attention that he personally takes to take part in this type of exercise which makes it possible to consider, objectively, the degree of execution of the various phases of the combat preparation programs and to evaluate the application, in the field, of the successive programmed stages, before urging all the personnel to persevere in the same way, with the same determination.
