On the second day of his visit to the 2nd Military Region, the Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, visited the principal Naval Base of Mers El-Kebir, where he was welcomed by the Major General Mahfoud BEN MEDAH, Commander of the Naval Forces, before following, in the presence of the Major General Djamel HADJ LAAROUSSI, Commander of the 2nd Military Region and the Major General Hasnat BELKACEM, interim Chief of Department of Employment and Preparation/S-PNA, a presentation on the main idea and the stages of the execution of a tactical exercise of the Naval Forces with anti-surface missile firing entitled “ISSAR 2022”, carried out by units belonging to the Naval Forces including submarines and naval aviation aircraft, as well as land units. Then, the Lieutenant General proceeded to the inspection of the naval formations before taking part in the exercise, and visited some floating units, in order to inquire about the readiness of their various components, and modern equipment and weapon systems.

On board the “Kalaat Beni Abbes” force projection and command building, board number 474, the Lieutenant General, Chief of Staff of People's National Army followed at the level of the firing range of the Western Maritime Façade, the conduct of the firing of an anti-surface missile from a corvette on a maritime target, then, supervised the execution of the scheduled marine actions, in particular artillery fire.

The mobilized naval units carried out the exercise with great professionalism, which is a result of a perfect cohesion between the different formations and the meticulous execution of all the planned stages of the exercise, where the surface target was destroyed with high precision, and the artillery fire at the sea target was executed with great performance. This new success, which is the fruit of the good mastery, by the crews, of the various weapons and equipment, confirms the development and the operational availability achieved by units of the Algerian Naval Forces in recent years.
