On the eve of International Women's Day, corresponding to 8th March of each year, the Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, chaired this afternoon of 7th March 2022, at the Ministry of National Defence headquarters, a ceremony in honour of the female personnel, military and civilians, of the Ministry of National Defence and the constituted bodies, in the presence of the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, Chiefs of Departments, the Comptroller General of the Army, Directors and Chiefs of Central Services of the Ministry of National Defence and of People's National Army General Staff.

On this occasion, the Lieutenant General addressed a speech during which he congratulated the female personnel, all categories combined, military and civilian, on the occasion of their international day. In this context, he made a point of recalling the fight led by the Algerian woman to defend the moral and ethical values of society and to fight against nation identity alienation attempts, just as he mentioned sacrifices made by free women and martyrs women of Algeria, throughout history:

“The Algerian woman gave the most honorary images of heroism and embodied the model of combat and supreme sacrifice, for the greatness and sovereignty of the homeland. Having inherited, from mother to daughter, the values of pride and dignity which she, in turn, transmitted to successive generations, she constituted an important link in the unity and cohesion of Algerian society during the colonial period. Thus, she has been able to preserve the moral and ethical values of Algerian society and has stood up as a solid bulwark against all attempts to alienate the cultural and civilizational identity of the nation, deeply rooted in history.
On this occasion, duty challenges me to pay a vibrant tribute to the memory of free women and martyrs women of Algeria, for the sacrifices they have made throughout our history, starting with popular resistance, through the glorious Revolution of National Liberation until the years of the fight against terrorism. Indeed, the free women and heroines of Algeria have faced, with a firm will and a strong determination, bloodthirsty terrorism and its obscurantist ideology, translated by fundamentalism and religious fanaticism, which condemned women to oppression wherever she was, on the street, at school, at university, at work, and even within her family. These retrograde ideas, which were the daily lot of women, could only prevent them from opening up to the world and evolving in their socio-professional life”.
The Lieutenant General underlined that within People's National Army, the initiatives were linked to allow women to play a pivotal role in the process of developing the capacities of our Armed Forces:
“These feats will remain eternally etched in the collective memory of the nation and will guide, like a beacon, the rising generations, on the path to building a new, strong and prosperous Algeria, as desired by our brave ancestors and as envisaged by the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence.
This is how the initiatives followed within the People's National Army, a worthy heir to the National Liberation Army, to allow women to play a pivotal role in the process of developing the capacities of our Armed Forces. She is now a crucial player in many areas that were, until recently, the prerogative of her male colleague”.
At the end, the Lieutenant General wanted to honour female personnel, military and civilians, exercising at the level of the various structures of PNA and the security corps.
