During a planned instruction flight, a MIG 29 type military combat aircraft crashed on the evening of 28th March 2022, due to a technical failure that occurred directly after takeoff from Bousfer Air Base in the 2nd Military Region And although the captain and his co-pilot managed to be ejected from the aircraft, the Commander Ben Mebkhout Tahar unfortunately fell as a martyr at the Regional Military University Hospital in Oran, succumbing to his injuries.
Further to this tragic incident, the Lieutenant General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army ordered the opening of an investigation to elucidate the causes and the circumstances of the crash.
In this painful ordeal, the Lieutenant General presents, in his own name and that of all the personnel of People's National Army, his sincere condolences and his deep compassion to the family and loved ones of the Chahid, and pray to Allah the Almighty to lend them strength and courage, and to grant His Great Mercy to the late Commander Ben Mebkhout Tahar.
