Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence received, this Thursday, 13th October 2022, in audience the Chiefs of Staff of member countries of the Joint Operational Staff Committee “CEMOC”, at the National Circle of the Army in Beni Messous, on the occasion of the holding, in Algiers, of the extraordinary session of the Council of Chiefs of Staff of CEMOC member countries which includes Algeria, Mali, Mauritania and Niger.
On his arrival, Mr. President of the Republic was welcomed by General, Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, where he listened to the national anthem before a military formation paid him the honours.

Took part in this audience, in addition to Mr. Ramtane LAMAMRA, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, Lieutenant General Mokhtar Bollé CHAABANE, Chief of General Staff of Mauritania Armies, Divisional General Oumar DIARRA, Chief of Staff of Mali Armies and Divisional General Salifou MODI, Chief of General Staff of Niger Armies whose country is chairing the current session of this Council, as well as the ambassadors of member countries of “CEMOC”, the ambassadors of the permanent member countries of the United Nations Security Council accredited in Algeria, the ambassador of Germany in Algeria, the resident coordinator of the United Nations and the representative of the African Union in Algiers.

During this audience, Mr. President of the Republic emphasized the historic and fraternal nature of the relations that link the member countries of this Committee, and Algeria's determination to promote these relations to the height of expectations of the peoples of the sub-region, in particular through its contribution to political and security stability in the sub-region, based essentially on the principle of rejection of foreign interference, the encouragement of internal dialogue and the safeguard of territorial integrity and national cohesion of States.
In this respect, Mr. President of the Republic appealed the international community to assume its responsibilities in the sub-region in accordance with the UN resolutions, in particular through more accompaniment and assistance to the States of the Sahel, and this to achieve sustainable development and local solutions that permit to overcome difficulties and socio-economic problems; these being amongst the deep and true causes of the degradation of the security situation in the sub-region.
It should be noted that the holding of this extraordinary session of the Council of Chiefs of Staff of CEMOC member countries, falls under the framework of an initiative initiated by Algeria in sight of reinvigorating the cooperation mechanism and the interoperability between CEMOC member countries, through examination and adoption of new draft legal texts. This session is also an opportunity to exchange views and assessments on the security situation prevailing in the sub-region.
