The different Military Regions celebrate PNA Day
In celebration of the 2nd anniversary of People's National Army Day, coinciding with 4th August of each year, and commemorating the conversion of the National Liberation Army into the People's National Army on 4th August 1962, and similar to the ceremony chaired by Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, in honour of the retirees of PNA, from the NLA, families of martyrs of national duty, as well as gravely injured and wounded in the fight against terrorism, at the level of the ANC/1st MR, ceremonies celebrating the occasion were held at the regional level, in the various Military Regions.
For this purpose, Major General BRAKNI Mohamed Tayeb, Commander of the 2nd Military Region, supervised, on Saturday 05th August 2023 at the Oran Family Rest Centre, this ceremony, in the presence of executives from the said Region.
In the 3rd Military Region, Major General FODHIL Nacer Eddine, Deputy Commander of the Region, chaired on behalf of Major General Mustapha SMAILI the celebration of this date during a ceremony where a historic conference on "the reconversion of the NLA in the PNA" was animated by Doctor MEDJAOUED Mohamed, Rector of the University TAHRI Mohamed in Bechar. A photo exhibition around the event was also organized at the Regional Information Centre of Bechar, which offered the public the opportunity to know more about the different components of the PNA as well as the history of its evolution.
Furthermore, in the 4th Military Region, and in the presence of executives from the Region and civil authorities, Major General ZAÏMI Ammar, Deputy Commander of the Region, and on behalf of the latter, supervised, on Saturday 04th August 2023 at the Army’s Regional Circle in Ourgla, a ceremony in honour of the families of martyrs of national duty, as well as the gravely injured and wounded in the fight against terrorism. On the sidelines of this event, the guests visited a historical exhibition retracing the key dates that marked the evolution of the People's National Army, starting with the Liberation Revolution to arrive at the process of modernization and development.
In addition, and under the supervision of Major General Hambli Noreddine, Commander of the 5th Military Region, the occasion was celebrated on Saturday 05th August 2023 at the level of the Army’s Regional Circle in Constantine, the ceremony began with a speech delivered by the Regional Director of Information and Communication, who emphasized the importance of the event considered as an opportunity to recall the achievements of our worthy People's National Army heiress of the National Liberation Army in various fields. A documentary film on the theme was then screened. The ceremony ended with a tribute to the PNA retirees, from the NLA, the families of martyrs of national duty, as well as the gravely injured and wounded in the fight against terrorism, who expressed their joy and gratitude for this kind initiative. In addition, the Territorial Information Centres of Souk-Ahras and Setif organized various activities, such as the screening of documentary films produced by the Regional Directorate of Information and Communication, photo exhibitions and works highlighting the role of the People's National Army, a worthy heir to the National Liberation Army, a conference led by Professor OUERTI Djamel on the theme "the PNA from the liberation phase to that of construction and of edification" as well as a testimony of the Moudjahid BOUMAAZA Abbès.
The 6th Military Region was also there on Saturday 05th August 2023 at the Family Leisure Centre in Tamanrasset, where a great tribute was paid to this category, in the presence of local military and civil authorities, a number of Mujahideen as well as notables from the Ahaggar region. This ceremony was supervised by Major General LACHEB Abdennour Commander of the Operational Sector of Bordj Badji Mokhtar, on behalf of Major General ADJROUD Mohamed Commander of the 6th Military Region. A souvenir photo was taken at the end of the ceremony.
