General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of PNA participated today, Tuesday August 15, 2023, by videoconference, in the 11
th Conference on International Security in Moscow, in the Russian Federation.
The General, who is taking part to the works of this International Conference upon invitation from the Russian Minister of Defence, began by listening to the opening address delivered by Russian President Vladimir Putin, and listened with great interest to the interventions of senior officials as well as military and security experts, representing states from different continents.
During his address, the General express the greetings of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence to the participants in this conference, as well as his best wishes for much success for its works. Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude to the Russian Federation for the invitation, which offers an opportunity to present the Algerian approach to deal with challenges and security threats faced by Middle East region and the African continent:
"At first, it is my pleasure to convey to you the greetings of Mr. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, President of the Algerian Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defence, as well as his best wishes for the successful works of this conference, which aims to propose ideas and perspectives to strengthen international peace and security.
I would also like to express my thanks to the Russian Federation, a friendly country, for this kind invitation, which was addressed to me to participate in this eleventh session of the conference, through my present address, devoted to "Security of the Middle East and the African Continent in its military aspects”, to expose the Algerian approach in dealing with the security challenges and threats facing this region".
The General highlighted that Algeria is convinced that a serious management of causes generating crises which feed instability and insecurity requires a serious commitment to upholding international legality, far from any foreign interference and attempts to foster instability:
"Algeria is convinced that it is time for the international community to recognize the importance of preserving international security, through a serious approach to deal with the causes generating crises which feed instability, as well as international and regional insecurity.
This necessarily requires respect for international legality, as well as the provision of the necessary aid and support to African countries, to enable them to develop, themselves, inclusive solutions and to take charge of the continent's problems, in a sovereign manner and far from any foreign interference or attempts to destabilization".
At the end of his address, the General underlined that Algeria aspires, through its participation in this conference, to build the bridges of constructive and fruitful dialogue and to consecrate a common and multidisciplinary understanding, capable to be used to promote peace and security, as well as the development and progress of all the peoples of the world:
"We aspire, through the participation in this conference, to build bridges of constructive and fruitful dialogue, and to consecrate a common and multidisciplinary understanding, capable of enabling us to work together in the direction of the promotion of peace and security, also the development and progress of all the peoples of the world.
Finally, I would like to thank you for the excellent organization of this conference, hoping that its work will be crowned with tangible results, in favour of world security and peace".
The 11
th Moscow Conference on International Security treated, through analyses and studies, the numerous security challenges that the world is currently confronting. this includes the increasing threats and risks arising situations of insecurity in certain regions around the world. The conference also discussed possible solutions and the measures to be taken in coordination with various international actors to effectively address these challenges.
