Operational report of PNA from 26th August to 1st July 2023
Within the framework of the sustained efforts in the fight against terrorism and against multifaceted organized crime, units and detachments of People's National Army carried out, during the period from 26th July to 1st August 2023, several operations which led to results which reflect professionalism, vigilance and permanent availability of our Armed Forces throughout the national territory:
Within the framework of the fight against terrorism and thanks to the exploitation of information, detachments of People's National Army apprehended (05) support elements for terrorist groups during separate operations across the national territory.
As part of securing our territorial waters and the fight against organized crime, and within the continuity with the sustained efforts aiming to counter of drug trafficking scourge in our country, a maritime brigade under the Territorial Grouping of the Coast Guard of Algiers / Maritime Facade Centre in the 1st Military Region, defeated, at Algiers port, an attempt to introduce into our country a large quantity of cocaine amounting to thirty-five (35) kilograms and (800) grams, concealed on board a commercial vessel flying the Maltese flag. The operation was initiated, in coordination with the National Security services, thanks to the exploitation of information reporting the introduction of a quantity of cocaine by the ship "HARIS", coming from Malta, which was docked at quay 33 in the port of Algiers. To this end, floating units of the Coast Guard were dispatched to secure the perimeter of the operation, and as soon as the search warrant was issued by the Public Prosecutor, the vessel was thoroughly searched by Coast Guard agents. Thus allowing the seizure of said quantity concealed in a crane on board the vessel.
In the same context, combined detachments of PNA intercepted, in coordination with the various security services during operations carried out across the Military Regions, (36) drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to introduce (174 ) kilograms of treated kif coming from the borders with Morocco, and seized (271007) psychotropic tablets.
In Tamanrasset, Adrar, In Guezzam and Djanet, PNA detachments arrested (161) individuals and seized (28) vehicles, (195) generators, (103) jackhammers, (05) metal detectors, as well as quantities of explosives, detonation tools and equipment used in illegal gold panning operations, while (19) other individuals were intercepted, and (06) hunting rifles, quantities of foodstuffs intended for smuggling and speculation amounting to (13) tons, in addition to (16) quintals of tobacco and (28,835) units of various beverages were seized during separate operations across the national territory. Similarly, the Border Guards thwarted, in coordination with the National Gendarmerie and Customs services, attempts to smuggle quantities of fuel amounting to (7921) litres in Tebessa, Souk Ahras and El-Tarf.
In addition, the Coast Guard thwarted, at the level of our national coasts, illegal emigration attempts and proceeded to the rescue of (270) individuals on board handmade boats, while (237) illegal immigrants from different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.
