Within the framework of working and inspection visits to the various components of People's National Army, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army carried out, this Sunday, 2nd April 2023, a working and inspection visit to Land Forces Command headquarters.
After the welcoming ceremony, accompanied by Major General Mohammed Ammar ATHAMNYA, Commander of the Land Forces, the General observed a minute’s silence in memory of the martyr and hero "Didouche Mourad" whose headquarters bears his name, and laid a wreath of flowers in front of his commemorative stele, before reciting the Fatiha in his memory and that of the brave Chouhada.
Then, during his meeting with the executives and the personnel, the General delivered an orientation speech, which was followed by the personnel of the six Military Regions units via videoconference system, through which he praised the content of the speech addressed by the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, during the high-level debate of the UN Security Council, where he recalled the unwavering commitment of Algeria to support its neighbours and African countries in their fight against terrorism and violent extremism:

"Algeria became very early aware of the origins, risks and dimensions of terrorism phenomenon and warned the whole world of its harmful and its devastating repercussions. By all accounts, Algeria has succeeded in its fight against terrorism and thwarted its obscurantist project, thanks to the rational exploitation of its capacities and the experience acquired by its people during the glorious Revolution of Liberation.
Facts, past and present, have shown that a rigorous and effective fight against this insidious scourge requires permanent combining and coordination of efforts at the national, regional and international levels, through, in particular, the rigorous implementation of the resolutions and legal tools of the United Nations, the African Union, and the bilateral and multilateral mechanisms relating thereto.
This was indeed emphasized by the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, in his speech delivered during the high-level debate of the UN Security Council on the fight against terrorism, where he affirmed that Algeria is continuing its efforts in the same spirit, to support its neighbours and African countries in their fight against terrorism and violent extremism, guided by its experience, admittedly bitter but crowned with success.
In this context, the General reiterated Algeria's desire to give new dynamic to the efforts provided in the fight terrorism in the Sahel region and the Sahara, stressing our country's rejection of any form of foreign interference in the region, as this approach has proven to be a total failure:

"In this same vein, Algeria's initiative, aimed at giving a new dynamic to efforts to combat terrorism in the Sahel region and the Sahara, approved in October 2022, by the countries members of CEMOC, comprising Algeria, Mali, Mauritania and Niger.
As such, this mechanism has adopted a strategy which tends, first and foremost, for each country to take charge, itself, of the fight against the terrorist threat in its national territory, relying essentially on its own capacities and means, while obviously being part of a collective dynamic, based on the efforts combination, coordination and mutual aid and which excludes any form of foreign interference under the guise of the fight against terrorism, since the latest developments in the region have demonstrated that this approach is a total failure".
At the end, the General chaired a working meeting, in the presence of the Chiefs of divisions and executives of the Land Forces, where he followed an exhaustive presentation given by the Commander of the Land Forces on the measures and dispositions undertaken as part of the force preparation program for the year 2022-2023. On this occasion, the General gave a series of instructions and guidelines relating, in sum, on the necessity of pursuing the efforts to prepare units and personnel for combat, in accordance with the plans and programs adopted, and to bring together the best living and working conditions for the benefit of personnel so as to enable them to fully accomplish their missions.
