General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of PNA on a working and inspection visit to the Naval Forces Command and the Naval Base of Algiers
Within the framework of his inspection visits to the various components of People's National Army, during the holy month of Ramadan, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of PNA carried out , this Thursday, 06th April 2023, a working and inspection visit to the headquarters of the Naval Forces Command, where he met the executives and staff working there, before proceeding, at the Naval Base of Algiers, to the inauguration of the high seas patrol vessel "El-Moutassadi", which reinforces the Algerian naval fleet.
This visit began from the Naval Forces Command, where after the welcome ceremony given by Major General Mahfoud BENMEDDAH, the General observed a moment of silence in memory of the martyr and hero "Souidani Boudjemaa", whose headquarters bears his name, and laid a wreath of flowers in front of his commemorative stele, before reciting the Fatiha in his memory and that of our brave Chouhada.
Then, the General gave an orientation speech, broadcast by videoconference through all the schools and units of the Naval Forces. As such, he highlighted the considerable steps taken in the process of building a modern and professional army, which strives to possess the elements of power:
"We have made, within the People's National Army, significant progress in the construction a modern and professional army, which tirelessly works to possess the elements of power, in an era in which it has become, rightly, a sure guarantee, not only for national sovereignty but also for imposing itself at the regional and international levels.
As such, the High Command of PNA has ensured, in recent years, in favour of the orientations of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, to provide PNA in modern means and equipment, in phase with the developments recorded in these fields".
General indicated that the acquisition of the high seas patrol vessel "El-Moutassadi" is part of a well-thoughout-out strategy, aiming at the modernization of the Algerian naval fleet and, therefore, the strengthening of Defense of PNA:
"It is in this wake that the acquisition of the high seas patrol vessel “El-Moutassadi” falls, equipped with the latest naval military technologies, and capable of operating and intervening on a large scale to assume its multiple missions.
We take the opportunity of berthing this new vessel, which we are inaugurating today, to congratulate ourselves on this new achievement, which is part of the modernization program of our naval fleet, and which reinforces the Naval Forces and thereby contribute to the strengthening of our defense capabilities and the development of PNA battle corps.
Furthermore, this acquisition is in line with our strategy, to promote harmony between the process of acquiring modern equipment and the process of training human potential, capable of mastering high technology and ensuring the judicious exploitation of equipment."
During his meeting with the executives of the Naval Forces Command ,the General followed an exhaustive presentation, presented by the Commander of the Naval Forces, relating to the state of progress of the development plan of the Naval Forces Command, particularly in the field of combat preparation efforts for units and personnel and maintenance of the naval fleet.
At the end, the General visited the Naval Base of Algiers, where he proceeded, in the company of Major General Mahfoud BENMEDDAH, to the inauguration of the high seas patrol vessel "El-Moutassadi", before inspecting it and receiving exhaustive explanations about its missions, components and specificities, given by the Commanding Oficier and his crew.
On this occasion, the General gave a series of instructions and guidelines to the command and crew members of the patrol vessel, relating, in short, to the need to ensure its maintenance in condition and its rational exploitation. For their part, the crew members expressed their pride in this acquisition, which constitutes a qualitative contribution to the fleet of the Algerian Naval Forces.
At the end of this visit, the General took a souvenir photo with the first formation of the crew of the high seas patrol vessel "El-Moutassadi".
