Within the dynamics of the inspection visits to the various components of People's National Army, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, carried out this Saturday, 08th April 2023, a working and inspection visit to the National Gendarmerie Command.
After the welcoming ceremony, given by Brigadier General Yahia Ali Oulhadj, Commander of the National Gendarmerie, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA observed at the entrance of the Command headquarters, a minute’s silence in memory of the Chahid " Larbi Ben M'hidi", whose headquarters of the National Gendarmerie Command bears the name, and laid a wreath of flowers in front of his commemorative stele, before reciting the Fatiha in his memory and that of our brave Chouhada.
During the orientation meeting that he held with the executives and the personnel, the General delivered a speech, broadcast via videoconference through all the units of these Armed Forces, in which he underlined the sensitive nature of the missions assigned to the National Gendarmerie, particularly in the context experienced by our sub-region:

"The National Gendarmerie's mission encompasses numerous sensitive tasks, including maintaining of public order, protecting people and property, ensuring freedom of movement and the fight against organized crime; an area where the National Gendarmerie has made great strides, particularly in terms of acquiring advanced technical processes in criminology science.
Added to these missions the protection of our land borders and the control of anything that may threaten the security and integrity of our national territory, such as illegal immigration and smuggling and drug trafficking. This is a role that we consider highly vital, especially in the particular context of our sub-region”.
The General has warned against subversive organizations, which exploit developed technological, for the purposes of spying and subversion, and attempt to create situations of crisis and chaos to break the strong bond between the people to its institutions. As such, he urged the personnel of the National Gendarmerie to constantly ensure the strengthening of the relationship with citizens throughout the national territory:

“The National Gendarmerie also records encouraging results in the field of the fight against cybercrime, knowing that cyber space has become a theater of organized crimes and attacks against governmental websites.
In this context, subversive organizations take advantage of the developed technological means, considered as dangerous weapons, for the purposes of spying and subversion, which particularly target the computer systems of sensitive government sectors, in an attempt to create situations of crisis and chaos and breaking the close bond that unites the people to their institutions.
In view of the nature of the aforementioned challenges, it is up to you, men and women of the National Gendarmerie, to ensure the fully accomplishement of the vital missions with which you are entrusted and to work constantly to strengthen the relationship with the citizens, whose trust State institutions is essential for the success of any action. I know that you take this aspect into account and give it the importance it deserves”.
The General also gave a series of orientations and instructions relating, essentially, to the need to show greater vigilance and to coordinate efforts between the various security forces and units of People's National Army in order to secure the national borders of our country:
"It is also up to you to coordinate with your colleagues from the various security forces and units of People's National Army, in order to redouble your efforts and to show greater watchfulness and vigilance, to thwart all malicious intentions, and to undertake all measures likely to ensure total security throughout the national territory and to serve the supreme interests of the country".
At the end, the General met with the executives of the National Gendarmerie Command, where he followed, first of all, an exhaustive presentation presented by the Commander of the National Gendarmerie, relating to the general assessment of the activities of the National Gendarmerie, particularly those relating to the fight against multifaceted organized crime, the securing of national borders, as well as aspects relating to the development plan of this vital Command.
