Within the framework of the fight against organized crime and securing national borders, security services of People's National Army arrested, during this week, in Tamanrasset in the 6th Military Region, a transnational criminal gang.

      This operation, which follows the efficient exploitation of information, made it possible to put out of harm's way the members of this band, made up of (08) criminals who sowed terror and fear within the population by using weapons. In addition, three (03) submachine guns type Kalashnikov, one (01) automatic pistol and one (01) all-terrain vehicle were recovered during this same operation. The arrested criminals were presented before the public prosecutor at the Tamanrasset court where they were placed under a warrant for the charges: establishment of a criminal band, possession and use of weapons and ammunition without authorization and crime of theft by using weapons.

      This high quality operation reiterates the determination of People's National Army units engaged throughout the national territory for the protection of citizens by defeating any attempt to undermine the country's security.
