Within the framework of the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of Tiguentourine events, and in consultation with Ministry of Energy and Mines, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People’s National Army supervised, in company of Minister of Energy and Mines, Mr. Mohamed ARKAB, this Monday 16th January 2023, in In Amenas in the 4th Military Region, the commemoration ceremonies of these events, and this, in presence of Commander of the 4th Military Region, General officers of PNA General Staff, Chairman and CEO of SONATRACH, Mr. Toufik HAKKAR, alongside a number of ambassadors and defence attaches accredited in Algiers, as well as, civil and military, local authorities of the region.
At the beginning and after the lifting of the national emblem and the interpretation of the national anthem at the Gas Complex of Tinguentourine, the General presented, together with the Minister of Energy and Mines, a wreath of flowers in front of the commemorative stele of Tiguentourine events, and this, in presence of some representatives of the diplomatic authorities accredited in Algeria, before the participants observe a minute's silence on the souls of the victims of the criminal attack having targeted this extremely vital gas site.
The ceremony continued with a welcome speech delivered by Mr. Toufik HAKKAR, CEO of SONATRACH, through which he bowed to the soul of the victims of barbaric terrorism.
For his part, Mr. Mohamed ARKAB, Minister of Energy and Mines, praised in his speech, the professionalism of People's National Army personnel and their bravery in defeating the criminal plan of terrorist groups.
In his speech, Major General, Director of Information and Communication of PNA General Staff, highlighted the vigilance and determination of People's National Army personnel during this operation carried out with exceptional promptness and precision which led to the elimination of this terrorist group elements.
On this same occasion, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, and through him all the personnel of PNA, was honoured by way of recognition and consideration for the sacrifices and efforts made. An occasion which also constituted an opportunity to supervise a ceremony of distinction in honour of some families of the Algerian and foreign victims, where a particular tribute was paid to the family of Chahid LAHMAR Mohamed Amine, fallen in the field of honour during these events.
The ceremonies ended with the participation of all the guests in a tree planting operation at the base of the Gas Complex of Tiguentourine.
