General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of PNA receives in audience Air Marshal Martin Elliot Sampson, Senior Advisor of United Kingdom Defence for the MENA region

      General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of Staff of People's National Army, received in audience, this Tuesday 17th January 2023, at the headquarters of PNA, Air Marshal Martin Elliot Sampson, Senior Advisor of United Kingdom Defence for the MENA region, who is visiting Algeria at the head of a large military delegation.

  

      During this audience, which was attended by General Officers of Ministry of National Defence and General Staff of PNA, alongside the members of the British military delegation, the two parties reviewed the status of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and examined together, the ways and the means to further consolidate it. They also discussed the security situation at the regional and international levels.

      After welcoming the host delegation, the General affirmed that the realization of this visit is likely to enable the diversification and promotion of bilateral military cooperation, while expressing our country's willingness to put implement practical measures to achieve the desired dynamic:

  

      “The materialization of your visit today reflects your interest in examining ways and means to enable the diversification and promotion of bilateral military cooperation.

      For our part, we would like to inform you of our full readiness to implement practical measures in order to achieve the desired dynamic, on the basis of sincere cooperation and a far-sighted, long-lasting and pragmatic approach.”

      The General underlined that it would be useful to include the dynamics of bilateral cooperation between the two parties within the framework of an approach aimed at moving forward by enhancing the excellent relations which bind the armies of the two countries, particularly in the field of training:

      “With regard to the diversification of activities relating to our bilateral cooperation, I propose to proceed, together, to the examination of the offered opportunities and the areas of their concretization, in particular training.

      As such, it would be useful to include this dynamic within the framework of an approach aimed at moving forward by promoting the excellent relations that exist between our two institutions, in particular through the implementation of all possible means for the exchange of experiences and to broaden, as far as possible, the areas of training.”

      The General also underlined that Algeria, anxious to respect its sovereign decisions, maintains economic and military relations with several friendly countries:

      “I would also like to emphasize, on this occasion, that Algeria is one of the Non-Aligned States and it is proud of its history, made up of glories and deeds of valour. Our country, which ensures respect for its independence and its sovereign decisions, maintains economic and military relations with many friendly countries.”

      The meeting was also an opportunity for both parties to exchange analyzes and points of view on issues of common interest. In this respect, Senior Advisor of United Kingdom Defence for the MENA region expressed his appreciation of the objective analyzes presented by the Algerian party relating to the regional and international security situation, while emphasizing his country's willingness to further promote bilateral military relations in various fields.

      At the end of the meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before Air Marshal Martin Elliot Sampson, proceeded to the signing of guest book of the General Staff of PNA.
