During a security and surveillance patrol in our territorial waters, a Coast Guard unit under the Western Maritime Facade in the Second Military Region intercepted on the evening of Tuesday, 29th August 2023, at 19:47, (03) jet-skis illegally crossed our territorial waters, and after issuing an audible warning and ordering them to stop several times, these were met with rejection and even the owners of jet skis performed dangerous manoeuvres. Due to the fact that this maritime border area is known for the intense activity of drug trafficking gangs and organized crime, and as a result of the persistence of jet skis owners, Coast Guard fired warning shots, and after several attempts, they resorted to shoot at a jet ski, which stopped one of the drivers, while the other two flee.

      On Wednesday, 30th August 2023, at 17:00, during another Coast Guard patrol, an unidentified male body with a gunshot wound was recovered and transferred to the morgue of Marsa Ben M'hidi/Tlemcen Hospital.

      In this context, the Ministry of National Defence urges the various national media, social media users, and citizens to not be affected by the misleading news that aim to undermine the honourable image of People's National Army.
