Mr. General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of the PNA Staff, received in audience the Minister of State, Minister of National Defense of Niger.
Mr. General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of the People's National Army Staff, received in audience, on Monday 12th August 2024, at the headquarters of the PNA Staff, Mr. General Salifou MODI, Minister of State, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Niger.
The welcome ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag, the performance of the national anthems of both countries, and military honors presented to the guest by formations representing the various Forces of the People's National Army.
Also present at this meeting were the Commanders of Forces and the National Gendarmerie, Heads of Departments, Central Directors of PNA Staff and the Ministry of National Defense, as well as members of the Nigerien delegation.
After welcoming the guest military delegation, Mr. General highlighted that this visit demonstrates the willingness of both parties to strengthen security coordination and bilateral military cooperation between the two countries:
"First of all, it is my pleasure to welcome you, along with the members of the delegation accompanying you, to the headquarters of the People's National Army, wishing you a pleasant stay in Algeria.
This visit is a testimony to our joint commitment to strengthen security coordination and bilateral military cooperation between our two armies. This cooperation would benefit from being part of a new dynamic, based on open and constructive exchanges, contributing to the promotion of peace and security in our region."
Mr. General also reiterated that Algeria, faithful to its unchanging principles, believes that the internal problems of the African continent can only be resolved internally, through the skills, capabilities and vitality of the countries on the continent:
"This phase, as difficult as it is crucial, calls on all of us to engage in a strategic vision, based on coordinated political, diplomatic, military, security and economic cooperation, aimed at creating the conditions for lasting stability.
In this regard, Algeria has always been committed to its unchanging principles, based on good neighborliness, respect for sovereignty and independence of states, and rejection of foreign interference, whatever its nature and objectives. Our conviction is that the internal problems of the African continent can only be resolved internally, with the skills, capabilities and vitality of the countries on our continent."
On his part, Mr. General Salifou MODI expressed his gratitude for the hospitality shown to him and his accompanying delegation, affirming the convergence of views between the two parties on all security issues discussed in the bilateral talks. He also expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation between his country and Algeria, stating that it is based on consultation and mutual respect.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before the Nigerien Minister of State, Minister of Defense proceeded to sign the Guest Book of the People's National Army General Staff.
