General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of PNA Staff, receives the President of the NATO Military Committee
General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of People's National Army Staff, received, this Thursday, 18TH April 2024, at the headquarters of the PNA General Staff, Admiral Rob BAUER, president of the Committee NATO soldier, who is making an official visit to Algeria at the head of a large military delegation.
The ceremony began with a salute to the national flag, and a military salute addressed to the Head of the host delegation by the formations of the different forces of People's National Army.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, the Force Commanders and the National Gendarmerie, the Heads of Departments and Central Directors of the Ministry of National Defence and the General of PNA Staff took part in this ceremony.
After welcoming the host delegation, General stressed that cooperation between Algeria and NATO has enabled the establishment of a solid and fruitful partnership between the two parties, as well as the creation a dynamic of consultation and dialogue:
"Cooperation between Algeria and NATO, within the framework of the Mediterranean dialogue, ended last March, its 24th year, where it allowed the establishment of a solid and fruitful partnership between the two parties, as well as the creation of a dynamic of consultation and dialogue, as confirmed by your visit today.
In terms of military cooperation, which constitutes the basis of this partnership, a careful reading of the results of the activities carried out in recent years shows that military cooperation between Algeria and NATO has experienced qualitative growth, in terms of dialogue, consultation and action".
The General stressed that Algeria firmly adhered to its sovereign decision and to the exercise of its full sovereignty over the entire national territory:
"I would like to recall that Algeria paid a heavy price for its independence, throughout its combat journey, from 1830 to 1962, where 5,630,000 Algerians fell as martyrs, including 1,500,000 during the revolution of the 1st November 1954. It was these immeasurable sacrifices that led to Algeria's adoption of the policy of non-alignment.
Thus, Algeria, which is proud of its past and jealously attached to its independence, firmly sticks to its sovereign decision and the exercise of its full sovereignty over its entire national territory."
In turn, Admiral Rob BAUER praised the pivotal role that Algeria plays in preserving security and stability in the region.
At the end, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before the president of the NATO Military Committee signed the guestbook of the General Staff of People's National Army.
