3rd national operation for the destruction of drugs and narcotics
In accordance with the regulations relating to the incineration and destruction of drugs of different types, and like other operations, a large quantity of these poisons was destroyed and incinerated today, 10th December, 2024 in Oued Sly, in the wilaya of Chlef in the 1st Military Region, in the presence of local and regional civil and security authorities. This measure comes at the end of an operation to collect all quantities of drugs seized at the national level by the units of People's National Army, the National Gendarmerie, the National Security, as well as by the Algerian Customs services.
This operation, which took place under the supervision of the Specialized Commission for the Destruction of Drugs and Narcotics, chaired by the representative of the judicial authority of the sector of competence, saw the destruction and incineration of:
- 10 tons and 566 kilograms and 8.28 grams of treated kif;
- 529 kilograms and 928.53 grams of hard drugs (cocaine and heroin);
- 11 million and 388.263,5 psychotropic tablets;
- 92 kilograms and 719.78 grams of psychotropic substances in powder form,
- 08 liters and 65 milliliters of psychotropic substances in liquid form.
It should be noted that the operation to destroy these drugs was carried out in strict compliance with security and environmental protection measures and in accordance with the frameworks and mechanisms of application appropriate to this type of operation. Indeed, it was first carried out to weigh and inventory all the quantities seized, then to their sealing by the services of the judicial police, namely the National Gendarmerie, the National Security and the judicial authorities, to then transfer them to the Regional Commands, then to the wilaya of Chlef where the destruction operation is taking place. The quantities seized were then unsealed in the presence of the various security services and under the supervision of the judicial authorities, before their incineration in accordance with the techniques and legal standards.
This national operation, which comes after the execution of other similar operations at the regional level, confirms, once again, the relevance of the national efforts made in the field of the fight against drug trafficking, in particular through the permanent and efficient presence on the ground of the various security forces which work tirelessly to thwart any attempt to flood our country with these drugs, in particular across our western borders.
