General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of People’s National Army Staff, continues his official visit to the Republic of Rwanda.

      Continuing his official visit to the Republic of Rwanda, at the invitation of his Rwandan counterpart General Mubarakh MUGANGA, General Saïd CHANGERIHA, Chief of People's National Army Staff, was received today 20th February 2024, at the headquarters of the Rwandan Ministry of Defence, by the Minister of Defence Juvenal MARIZAMUNDA, to then meet with his counterpart Chief of Staff of the Rwandan Forces General Mubarakh MUGANGA.

      At the entrance to the headquarters of the Ministry of Defence in the capital Kigali, General, Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of People's National Army Staff was welcomed by the Chief of Staff of Rwandan Defence, General Mubarakh MUGANGA, where he reviewed a formation of the National Guard who presented him with military honours before being received by the Rwandan Minister of Defence Juvenal MARIZAMUNDA, with whom he discussed the assessment of the state of military cooperation between the armies of the two countries, and then exchanged symbolic gifts.

  

  

      Subsequently, General had a bilateral meeting with his counterpart General Mubarakh MUGANGA, before expanding the meeting to delegations from the two countries, where the two parties chaired talks on military cooperation between the two countries and the prospects for its promotion in accordance with the aspirations of the leaders of the two countries and their common desire to extend coordination to areas of common interest.

      On this occasion, the General of the Army delivered a speech in which he reiterated to his hosts his consideration and gratitude for the hospitality and welcome extended to him and the delegation accompanying him, before asserting that this visit clearly demonstrates the ambitions of the high authorities of the two countries to breathe new life into the military cooperation mechanism between the armies of the two countries, with a view to take up the security challenges prevailing in the African continent:

      “Our visit today, which follows the visit of your predecessor to Algeria in 2022, General Jean Bosco KAZURA, clearly testifies to the ambitions of the high authorities of the two countries to breathe new dynamism into the mechanism of cooperation military between the armies of the two countries and constitutes an opportunity, which we will seize, for the exchange of points of view on questions of common interest.

      It also constitutes an important step on the path of consultation between our institutions, which we will travel together for the development of bilateral relations and the consolidation of military cooperation, in order to raise it to the level of the aspirations of the leaders of our respective countries, in the prospect of meeting the security challenges prevailing in the African continent with the required effectiveness and efficiency.”


      For his part, General Mubarakh MUGANGA welcomed the sincere desire that he noted on the Algerian side for the strengthening of bilateral military relations, in line with the aspirations of the two friendly countries to establish ties beneficial and fruitful cooperation for both countries.

      “The Rwandan Defence Forces confirm that the Algerian People’s National Army is, indeed, one of the most respected and efficient military forces on our continent and well beyond. Through growing cooperation in the field of defence, the Rwanda Defence Forces aspire to benefit from the capabilities of the People's National Army and learn from its experience and expertise.”

      At the end of this meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before the General, Chief of People's National Army Staff signed the guestbook of the headquarters of the Forces of Rwandan Defence.

  

  

      In the morning of the same day, General, Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of People's National Army Staff, went to the Genocide Memorial, where he was welcomed by General Patrick KARURETWA, Director of International cooperation of the Rwandan Defence Forces.

      On the occasion, General laid a wreath of flowers in front of this memorial, before observing, with the accompanying delegation, a minute of silence in memory of the victims of this tragedy experienced by the Rwanda in 1994.

      At the end, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA visited the galleries relating to the Memorial, where he received extensive explanations on the history of Rwanda and the importance of this Memorial, paying tribute to the victims of the genocide, in strengthening the principles of peace and the values of reconciliation among the rising generations among the children of Rwanda and the African continent.

      General, and after signing the Guest Book of the Genocide Memorial, he underlined the importance of this visit to better understand the illustrious history of Rwanda.

      Through his responses to the Rwandan press, the Army General highlighted on Algeria's role in resistance against all types of colonization and in the fight against terrorism.

      Still in the Rwandan capital Kigali, General, Chief of People's National Army Staff went, with the delegation accompanying him, to the Museum of the Campaign Against Genocide. At this Museum, the General and the delegation accompanying him visited the various pavilions where extensive explanations about this establishment were given to them by those responsible , before following a detailed presentation on this tragic era of the history of Rwanda.
