Within the framework of field visits to the different Military Regions, aiming to follow up on the extent of implementation of the combat preparation program for the year 2023/2024 at the level of People's National Army units, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of People's National Army Staff, began this Monday 26th February 2024, a work and inspection visit for two days to the Sixth Military Region in Tamanrasset.

The visit began at the headquarters of the Sixth Military Region, After the welcoming ceremony by Major General Mohamed ADJROUD, Commander of the 6thMilitary Region, the General observed a moment of silence in memory of the late Moujahid " Hibaoui Wafi’’ whose the Region Command headquarters bears his name, he laid a wreath of flowers in front of his commemorative stele, before reciting the Fatiha in his memory and that of our valiant Chouhada. After that, the General had a meeting with the executives and personnel of the Sixth Military Region, which was broadcast via videoconferencing technology to all units of the region, where, on the occasion, he delivered an orientation speech in which he affirmed that Algeria, will remain faithful to its positions towards just causes throughout the world, led by the Palestinian and Sahrawi causes:
«From this standpoint, Algeria has been and continues to defend and stand by just causes in the world, such as the Sahrawi and Palestinian causes, because the occupation is not merely oppressive practices against the occupied peoples, but rather a robbery of their entity, identity, capabilities, and even the right of their citizens of life, and what the two sibling peoples are exposed to, in both occupied Palestine and Western Sahara highlight the ugliest forms of abuse against civilians, especially children, women and the elderly, without taking into account the most basic international rules of human rights and international humanitarian law.
Despite the geographical distance between Palestine and Western Sahara, the suffering of the two peoples intersects and is similar in many aspects, as the occupying forces excel in practices of oppression, injustice and tyranny, and seek by all means to distort and obliterate the identity of the occupied peoples and trample on their dignity, by adopting a policy of arbitrary arrests, killing and starvation, mass displacement, the construction of apartheid walls, and the unjust exploitation of its primary resources, encouraged by the double standards of the international media, to justify the occupation by using misinformation and promoting false images that distort the facts and depict the aggressor, in the guise of the victim, and criminalize legitimate resistance».

The General emphasized that establishing the obligations of a strong and solidary international community remains the best solution to confront human rights violations resulting from the occupation everywhere :
«No matter how different the cultures and geography are, the occupation remains the essence of injustice and violation of human dignity, and the continuation of the occupation and its suppression of popular resistance and making it synonymous with terrorism, in light of the silence and failure of the international community to lift this intended confusion and recognize the right of peoples to self-determination. I indeed say, the continuation of the occupation in committing such shameful practices threatens international peace and security.
Therefore, all free people in the world must be keen, more than ever before, to combine efforts to confront the occupation, everywhere, by establishing the obligations of an international community in solidarity against these violations that have passed for a long time, and establishing a future in which justice and peace prevail, respect for human rights, and the realization of human dignity for all nations without exception».

At the end of the meeting, the General gave a set of instructions and orientations, which in their entirety fall within the framework of improving the living and working conditions of personnel, as well as raising performance and the degree of vigilance and caution to confront all security challenges at the level of this sensitive region, before then giving way to the region’s executives to express Their concerns and suggestions.
