General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of PNA Staff, receives in audience the Political Director at the German Federal Ministry of Defence, Advisor on Foreign and Security Policy to the Minister of Defence
General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of People's National Army Staff, received in audience, this Sunday 7th January, 2024 at the headquarters of People’s National Army General Staff, Mr. Jasper WIECK, Political Director at the German Federal Ministry of Defence and Advisor for Foreign and Security Policy to the Minister of Defence, who is making a working visit to Algeria at the head of a high-level delegation.
At this meeting, were present General officers and Majors Generals from People's National Army General Staff and the Ministry of National Defence, as well as the German Ambassador to Algiers and members of the German delegation.
During this meeting, the two sides reviewed the prospects for bilateral military cooperation and ways to develop and consolidate coordination on issues of common interest. The two parties also discussed the security challenges prevailing in the world, particularly in the Mediterranean Basin and on the African continent, and exchanged views on current issues.
On this occasion, the General delivered a welcoming speech of which he welcomed the German manager and the delegation accompanying him, before emphasizing the will of both country to further consolidate bilateral cooperation ties and raise it to the level of the quality of relations between Algeria and the German Federation:
"It is my pleasure, once again, to welcome you and the delegation that accompanies you to the headquarters of the General Staff of People’s National Army
Your visit reflects the desire of our two countries to further consolidate our bilateral cooperation ties and to examine the ways and means of strengthening it to raise the quality of relations between Algeria and the German Federation. As such, we are completely convinced that our meeting today will be fruitful and will open up new prospects for cooperation in the areas of security and defence".
The General also reiterated the desire of People’s National Army to consolidate military cooperation with the German partner and to include it in a new dynamic capable of achieving the objectives set out by the two parties:
"I would like to emphasize that the German federation remains a quality partner for Algeria with which we strive to strengthen our bilateral relations. To this end, we reiterate our firm desire to further consolidate our military cooperation and to place it in a new dynamic capable of achieving the objectives set out by our two institutions".
For his part, Mr. Jasper WIECK praised the welcome given to him and the delegation accompanying him and the firm will that he noted on the Algerian side for the strengthening of cooperation and consultation between the two countries on areas of common interest, with a view to promoting security and stability in the world.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts.
