General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of PNA Staff, on a working and inspection visit to the 5th Military Region
Within the Continuity of his visits to the different Military Regions, Mr. General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Chief of People's National Army Staff, began this Tuesday, 4th June 2024, a working and inspection visit in 5th Military Region in Constantine.
After the welcome ceremony given by Major General Noureddine HAMBLI, Commander of the 5th Military Region, the General observed a moment of contemplation in memory of the Chahid and hero "Zighoud Youcef", whose headquarters Region Command bears the name. For the occasion, he placed a wreath of flowers in front of the commemorative stele and recited the Fatiha in his memory and that of our valiant Chouhada.
Subsequently, accompanied by the Commander of the 5th Military Region, the General inaugurated a specialized consultation centre under the military health services in Mansoura, where detailed presentations were presented to him by the officials responsible for the implementation and the administration of this Centre, before inspecting its various services and amenities and receiving exhaustive explanations on the services it offers to military personnel and their right holders.
This was followed by an orientation meeting with the executives and staff of the Region, where the General delivered a speech which was followed by videoconference by all the units of the Region, in which he warned against the upward trend in the phenomenon of drug trafficking of all kinds towards our country:
“Among the most serious threats our country faces today are the sneaky attempts to flood it with drugs and narcotics of all kinds, with the aim of harming the physical and psychological health of people, the living forces of the nation, the youth in this case, by demoralizing them and pushing them towards drug addiction and crime.
In this context, I would like to draw attention to the alarming upward trend that the phenomenon of trafficking of psychotropic drugs, of all kinds, continues to take in our country in recent times, in the sense that the statistics, emanating from the various security services, report the seizure of enormous quantities of these poisons, which criminals and enemies of the country are trying to sell on national territory”.
The General stressed that the PNA will remain on guard, facing all those who support this pernicious scourge, urging personnel to redouble their efforts to combat it by all possible means:
“Within the People’s National Army, we attach particular importance to the fight against this pernicious phenomenon and we will have no tolerance towards its barriers. In this sense, we will continue to vigorously combat all those who encourage, support or finance this harmful scourge, through the strengthening of our military and security systems all along our borders.
As such, it is up to you at the level of the territory of the 5th Military Region to redouble your efforts, to combat drug trafficking networks and eliminate these criminals, traitors to the nation, by implementing operational procedures adapted to the modes of action of these criminals, and by mobilizing all possible means, in order to protect our country from the misdeeds of this scourge, which is part of the vile designs being hatched against our country.”
At the end of this meeting, the General gave a set of guidelines and instructions to the personnel of the Region, relating in particular to the continuation of efforts, aimed at bringing together all the security conditions during the next summer season in benefit of citizens. Furthermore, he was keen to highlight the results they have recorded in the fight against terrorism and all forms of organized crime.
