General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of PNA Staff receives in audience General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff of Republic of India

      General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of People's National Army Staff, received today Sunday, 3rd November, 2024, at the headquarters of People's National Army Staff, General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff of Republic of India , who is on a visit to Algeria at the Chief of a high-level military delegation.

      The welcoming ceremony began with the salute of the national flag, followed by the military salute presented to the General by a military formation, representing the various Forces of People's National Army.

  

      During this meeting, which was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, the Commanders of Forces, the National Gendarmerie, the Chiefs of Departments and the Central Directors of People's National Army Staff and the Ministry of National Defence, the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Algeria and the members of the Indian delegation, the two parties discussed the areas of bilateral military cooperation and ways to strengthen security coordination, as well as exchanged views on international security challenges and current issues.

      On this occasion, the General delivered a speech, in which he first welcomed the Chief of Defence Staff of Republic of India, emphasizing the strength of the relations and historical ties that unite the two countries:

  

      "I take this opportunity to recall the strong relations and historical ties that unite our two countries. India has supported our Liberation Revolution and upheld the right of our people to self-determination, particularly in the Non-Aligned Movement, for which President Nehru played a significant role in its founding and established the principles of liberation and decolonization.

      The recent visit by the President of the Republic of India, Mrs. Daroupadi Murmura, is a tangible proof of the unwavering commitment of the leaders of the two countries to inject new momentum into bilateral relations and expand the prospects of cooperation in various fields.

      The discussions between the two Chiefs of State also provided an opportunity to chart new prospects and adopt future strategies to enhance the level of bilateral cooperation by activating all common mechanisms under the Joint Commissions, namely the Joint Cooperation Commission and the Political Consultation Mechanism with the aim of raising the partnership, based on the historical ties between our two nations, to its best level."


  

      The General also expressed his gratitude to his host for honoring the invitation to take part in the festivities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of our Glorious Liberation Revolution of 1st November1954, which denotes their commitment to strengthening the strong ties that unite the two friendly countries:

      "On this occasion, I am pleased to express my deep gratitude to you for honoring our invitation to take part in the commemorative festivities of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Glorious Revolution of 1st November, 1954, which demonstrates the interest you have in consolidating the exceptional relations that unite our two friendly countries."

      For his part, General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff of the Republic of India expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation, and affirmed the willingness of both parties to examine ways to strengthen military cooperation and extend it to new areas.

      On this occasion, the two parties signed a memorandum of cooperation in the military field between the Ministry of National Defence of People's Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of India.

  

      At the end of this meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before General Anil Chauhan signed the guestbook of PNA Staff.
