General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of People's National Army Staff, received in audience, this Monday, 28th October, 2024, at the headquarters of People’s National Army Staff, Lieutenant General Joaquin QUINTAS SOLA, Deputy Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, who is on a working visit to Algeria, at the head of a large military delegation.
The welcoming ceremony began with the salute of the national flag, followed by the military salute presented to the guest by a military formation, representing the different Forces of People's National Army.
During this meeting, which was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, Force Commanders, Heads of Departments and Central Directors of People's National Army Staff and the Ministry of National Defence, as well as the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Algeria, the two parties discussed the international security context, stressing the need to combine efforts to meet challenges and explore ways and means to strengthen cooperation relations between the two countries. The two parties also exchanged views on issues of common interest.
On this occasion, the General delivered a speech, in which he first welcomed the host delegation, stressing that relations between Algeria and Cuba are deep and are characterized by historical bonds of friendship, imbued with immutable values and principles:

"Relations between Algeria and the Republic of Cuba are deep and are distinguished by historical bonds of friendship, imbued with immutable values and principles, which have laid the foundations for exemplary bilateral cooperation, based on mutual assistance, solidarity, as well as support for oppressed peoples and just causes, at their head, the Sahrawi and Palestinian issues.
In addition, the positions of the two countries, within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement, have been characterized by conformity and convergence, which emanate from a common awareness of the need to establish a global movement that defends the interests of developing countries and rejects polarity. In this respect, the contributions of Algeria and Cuba have had a considerable and palpable effect on the action of this movement, the reasons for which prevailed in its creation and the strengthening of these activities remains relevant, in light of current global changes."
The General stressed that relations between the two countries have experienced continuous development in terms of consultations and coordination of positions on issues of common interest, emphasizing the concern to implement the strategic visions of the leaders of the two countries, aimed to promote partnership between the two armies:
"Relations between the two countries are experiencing continuous development in terms of consultations, coordination of positions on issues of common interest, and the promotion of multidimensional cooperation, whether at the political and economic level, or that of human development, including, among others, health, culture, science and sport. Within the PNA, we work to realize the strategic visions of the leaders of our two countries, with the aim of promoting partnership between our respective armies, and this, by creating a new dynamic in the field of military cooperation and setting up adequate mechanisms for its implementation."
For his part, Lieutenant General Joaquin QUINTAS SOLA expressed his joy at visiting Algeria, welcoming on this occasion the firm will he observed in the General, Chief of People's National Army Staff, to consolidate bilateral military relations and raise them to the level of the aspirations of the leaders of the two friendly countries, in order to lay the foundations for fruitful and beneficial cooperation for both parties.
At the end of this meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before Lieutenant General Joaquin QUINTAS SOLA signed the guestbook of the PNA Staff.
