General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of PNA Staff Receives in audience the Chief of the Joint General Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces
General Said CHANEGRIHA, Chief of People’s National Army Staff, received today, Thursday, 31ST October, 2024, at the headquarters of People’s National Army Staff, Admiral Renato Rodriguez d’Aguiar Freire, Chief of the Joint General Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces, who is visiting Algeria at the head of a high-level military delegation.
The welcoming ceremony began with the salute of the national flag, followed by the military salute presented to the Admiral by a military formation, representing the different Forces of People’s National Army.
During this meeting, which was attended by the Secretary General of the MND, the Commanders of Forces and the National Gendarmerie, Chiefs of departments and central directors of the People's National Army Staff and the Ministry of National Defence, the two parties discussed the areas of bilateral military cooperation and the means of strengthening security coordination, as well as exchanging views on international security challenges and current issues. During this audience, the General delivered a speech, in which he first welcomed the Chief of Staff of the Brazilian Armed Forces, expressing his thanks for having honored the invitation to take part in the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious Revolution of 1st November 1954.
"First of all, I would like to welcome you and the delegation accompanying you on the occasion of this official visit that you are making to Algeria, to share with us the celebration of the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious revolution of 1st November, 1954.
I would like to express our deepest thanks to you for having accepted our invitation to take part in the military parade, which will be organized as part of the commemorative festivities of a liberation revolution that inspired so many oppressed peoples and contributed to the liberation of many peoples of injustice and exploitation of colonialism. We see in your participation a testimony of the sincere efforts made by the high Brazilian authorities in the direction of strengthening relations between the two friendly countries.
These relations, which historically date back to the time of Emir Abdelkader, founder of the modern Algerian State, have materialized through the establishment of diplomatic but also human ties".
The General stressed the importance of this meeting, which reflects the will of the leaders of the two countries to promote bilateral military cooperation at the level of excellence.
"Our meeting today reflects the will of the leaders of the two countries to promote bilateral military cooperation at the level of excellence, particularly in areas of common interest, in the best interests of the two friendly countries.
Furthermore, we note with satisfaction the dynamics that characterize bilateral military cooperation, particularly through the visit I made in April 2023 to take part in the defense and security exhibition (LAAD-2023). On this occasion, an audience was reserved for me by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Brazil, where we agreed, following frank and pragmatic discussions, on the need to strengthen the foundations of our cooperation, according to an objective and prospective approach."
For his part, Admiral Renato Rodriguez d'Aguiar Freire expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation, before praising the quality of the military relations maintained by the two countries, and the will displayed by the Algerian side to consolidate bilateral relations. At the end of this meeting, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts, before Admiral Renato Rodriguez d'Aguiar Freire signed the guestbook of the PNA Staff.
