Naval Forces.. A medical evacuation operation successfully carried out by our Coast Guard units

     Within the framework of the missions and humanitarian efforts of the Coast Guard units, under the Naval Forces Command, in particular those relating to the rescue of human lives at sea, and following the reception of the National Center for Surveillance and Rescue Operations at Sea, on 18th September, 2024 at 11:50 a.m. of a request from the Coordination Center for Rescue Operations at Sea in Ankara relating to the urgent medical evacuation of a Turkish sailor of 67 year-old, a member of the crew of the commercial vessel named "SIFTRI" flying the Liberian flag, and this, after having suffered a heart attack and being in a critical situation, the National Center for Surveillance and Rescue Operations at Sea triggered, Immediately and in coordination with the Regional Center for Surveillance and Rescue Operations at Sea in Jijel in the 5th Military Region, a medical evacuation operation at sea through the engagement of an AS-12 Search and Rescue Helicopter from the 560th Search and Rescue Helicopter Squadron. After locating the ship by the above-mentioned helicopter twenty-seven (27) nautical miles north of Cap Rosa in Collo, the Turkish sailor was quickly evacuated to the El-Hadjar hospital to receive first aid, he was then transferred to the Ibn Rochd University Hospital in Annaba to receive the necessary care.

  

     This operation is part of the humanitarian missions of the Coast Guard units of the Naval Forces Command which reflect the efforts made and their commitment to intervene to save human lives at sea in all circumstances.
