General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of People's National Army Staff, receives in audience the Minister of Defence, retirees’ Affairs, and Children of Martyrs of Mauritania

      General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of people’s National Army staff, received in audience this Wednesday, 16th April 2025, at the headquarters of people’s National Army, Mr. Henana Ould Sidi, Minister of Defence, Retirees' Affairs, and Children of Martyrs of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, who is visiting Algeria at the head of a large military delegation.

      The welcoming ceremony began with the salute of the national flag, followed by a military salute presented to the guest by a military formation representing the various forces of the People's National Army.


      During this meeting, which was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, Force Commanders, Heads of Departments and Central Directors of the General Staff of people’s National Army and the Ministry of National Defence, members of the Mauritanian delegation as well as His Excellency the Mauritanian Ambassador to Algiers, the two parties discussed security developments in the North African region and the African continent. They also exchanged views on issues of common interest and ways and means to strengthen military cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

  

      On this occasion, the General delivered a speech, in which he first welcomed the host delegation, highlighting the countless ties that bind the two brotherly countries:


      "I would like, first of all, to welcome you and the accompanying delegation to Algeria, hoping that this visit will be fruitful and beneficial for both parties.

      Algeria and Mauritania, through their geographical, historical, and cultural ties, share the same ambitions and challenges, making their bilateral relations an example to follow in terms of cooperation and complementarily between Arab and African countries."


      The General also emphasized the strategic importance of Algerian-Mauritanian relations, emphasizing the need to strengthen joint action between the two countries, according to a consistent and insightful vision, focused on dialogue, coordination, and the exchange of experiences.

  

      "The strategic importance of Algerian-Mauritanian relations stems not only from the common denominators that bind the two countries, but also from the pivotal role this cooperation plays in the stability of the entire region.

      Furthermore, the security, economic, and geopolitical challenges facing our region require us today, more than ever, to intensify joint action, based on a consistent and perceptive vision based on dialogue, coordination, the exchange of experiences, and best practices in areas of common interest.

      In this perspective, Algeria, under the leadership of Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defence, is working to consolidate its bilateral relations with Mauritania in various areas, particularly security, because, in Algeria, we are convinced that the security and stability of our two countries require the highest levels of convergence, coordination, and consultation."


      For his part, Mr. Henana Ould Sidi expressed his satisfaction of this visit to Algeria, praising the strength of the fraternal and good-neighborly relations that bind the two peoples. He also emphasized the leadership role Algeria plays in promoting peace in the region.

      At the end of this meeting, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of people’s National Army staff, and Mr. Henana Ould Sidi, Minister of Defence, Retirees’' Affairs, and Children of Martyrs of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, signed a defence cooperation agreement, before the Algerian guest signed the guestbook of the PNA Staff.
