Third day of visit of General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of People's National Army Staff in the Republic of India

      On the third day of his official visit to the Republic of India, General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of People's National Army Staff, was received today, Friday, 7th February 2025, by General Anil CHAUHAN, Chief of Staff of Defence of the Indian Armed Forces.

  

      At the beginning, General Anil CHAUHAN visited the National War Memorial in the Indian Capital New Delhi. After receiving explanations on the history of this monument, the General laid a wreath and observed a minute of silence in memory of the heroes commemorated by this memorial.

      Subsequently, and at the headquarters of the Defence Staff, General Said CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of PNA Staff, was received by General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Staff of Defence.

      After the welcoming ceremony, the two sides held discussions on ways to consolidate military cooperation between the two countries, before extending the discussions to the delegations of the two countries, in the presence of the Commanders of the Indian Armed Forces and members of the Algerian military delegation as well as the Algerian Ambassador to the Republic of India, Ali Achoui, in order to assess the bilateral military cooperation between Algeria and India, which maintain solid cooperative relations, marked by a common history of mutual support and solidarity.

      During this meeting, the General delivered a speech in which he expressed his consideration and gratitude for the warm welcome given to him and the accompanying delegation, hoping that this visit will contribute to deepening the ties of cooperation between the two countries:

  

      "First of all, it is a pleasure for me to express my deep gratitude for the welcome and hospitality that you have given us since our arrival in this age-old land of India, hoping that this visit will be an opportunity for the exchange of views on issues of common interest and an opportunity to lay the foundations of bilateral military cooperation."

      The General also recalled the honorable common history that unites the two countries, whose historical ties have made it possible to establish a solid friendship, evolving over time to expand to various political, economic and defense fields:


      "Indeed, Algeria considers India as a model of progress and development in various fields, from technology to industry, thus opening up prospects for our two countries to examine ways to consolidate our bilateral relations and our military cooperation.

      I would also like to take this opportunity to recall the common history that unites our two countries, particularly with regard to our constant and shared positions within the framework of the Bandung process and the organization of non-aligned countries.

      In this context, Algeria and India are part of the African and Asian world, and share common points that date back to their respective struggles against colonialism. India being one of the first countries that supported the struggle of the Algerian people for their independence, just as Algeria had adopted memorable positions in support of India on the international level. These historical ties have contributed to building a solid relationship of friendship, evolving over time, to expand to various political, economic and defense fields. "


  

      For his part, General Anil CHAUHAN, expressed his joy in welcoming General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, praising at the same time the quality of bilateral relations between the two countries, before emphasizing his aspiration to further enhance them in the future.

      At the end, the two parties exchanged symbolic gifts.
