General Saïd CHANEGRIHA, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of People's National Army Staff, received in audience, this Tuesday, 28th January 2025, at the headquarters of People's National Army General Staff, Mr. Javier COLOMINA, the Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy of NATO, who is making an official visit to Algeria at the head of a large delegation.
The meeting was attended by Major Generals and Generals of the Ministry of National Defence and of General Staff of People's National Army, as well as members of NATO delegation.
After welcoming the host delegation, the General stressed that this visit reflected the willingness of both parties to strengthen joint cooperation in the context of establishing the requirements of regional stability and security:

"Your visit reflects NATO's interest in strengthening dialogue with Algeria, particularly with regard to establishing factors of regional stability and security. It also provides an opportunity to exchange views on the situation in the region and examine ways and means of developing joint cooperation.
We consider NATO's Mediterranean Dialogue, which Algeria joined in 2000, to be an important framework that allows for discussions on common security issues and for more effective combating of threats affecting the region's security. The latter being a permanent concern for countries on both sides of the Mediterranean, NATO adopted, at the Organization's congress held in Washington last July, the Southern Neighborhood Action Plan that you are responsible for coordinating."
The General stressed that the commitment of both parties to the development of cooperation mechanisms has made it possible to establish a solid and fruitful partnership, which will allow to consider new opportunities for useful and denser cooperation for both parties:
"The dialogue between Algeria and NATO reflects the commitment of both parties to the development of cooperation mechanisms, which has allowed them to establish a solid and fruitful partnership, which is distinguished by a dynamic of consultation, coordination and exchange of experiences, which has been consolidated thanks to high-level visits made by both sides.
While valuing the current level of this cooperation, I believe that our cooperation will experience a new boost, thanks to the adoption of the Individual Partnership Program, currently under review, which will allow to consider, for both parties, new opportunities for useful and denser cooperation."
For his part, Mr. Javier COLOMINA welcomed the firm well displayed by the Algerian side to promote bilateral military cooperation, saluting the efforts and the axial role of Algeria in the field of maintaining security and stability in the region.
